Got webber 40s on 2.0VX XE & yes I know as stock they came with 45s on the vxs, car does feel strangled at higher revs, excellent midrange tho, stock internals.

40s to me were to my mind always ok on the smaller power cars but for 175+bhp are too small?

So I had been thinking run 'em for a bit & then up to 45s or TBs if the right set comes along, as bigger power is of course on the cards in the future.

However this evening chatting to mate who has just bought a Jade racer, got well prepped VX XE engine, said to be 200bp area but I spotted its on 40s ahh interesting I think maybe I can indeed get more grunt out of the 40s then?

So reading through my car prev owners the carb set up invoice its got 34mm choke tubes, f16 emmulsion tubes, 140 main jets, 50f9 idles, 185 air correctors. No idea what the Jade runs, cant easily find out?

How big can you co with the 40s then & whats the thoughts on spending ££ on RR set up & set swap vs getting 45s, would love to keep the 40s for ££ really really, but if its always gunna be strangled no point?

I would take it to someone who really knows what they are doing with carbs and get the 40's re-jetted on a rolling road.....ignore the spurious bhp figure,,,you should be able to see definite improvement on the rolling road used on the same day....I am sure you will be amazed at the difference!

I had my Burton tuned Kent set up at www.sanspeed.net we played around with various jets until I was happy....was Lizard type money as well!wink

CS yes indeed, just I transported a mates car for 40s set up etc (at a local RR & carb tuner place i'll def never use, thats the 2nd car I know hes ballsed up & owner has endd up fiddling himself to make it run properly afterwards!) & to be honest the price was pretty horrific for the under an hours work & a couple of jets... hence not wanting to spend it if 40s will just strangle it & im best off getting 45s.

I'll call a few folks & also see if I can find out what sorta specs my mate has on his Jade.

Ruby- nah not seem 'em, where adverised mate? always tons about on ebay etc & in no rush at the mo. will track a bit on the 40s & see how I get on.
