Entertaining is again another widely used word that means little.
but then almost everything written inside internet forums means very little... its a terrible medium for proper communication, hence why you get so many damm arguments and 'wrong ends of the stick' etc..

the first caterham I ever bought was a 5-speed - i've bought nearly a dozen since then - each one with a 6-speed. I wouldn't have a (track) caterham without a 6-speed.

Perhaps the question should have read: The SLR is blindingly quick on a track (when driven correctly) and at the same time allot of fun when provoked in corners (tail out).

Reviews for the CSR have said some of the rawness has gone, that the CSR is more civilised and the new suspension allows the power to be put down much easier and with less work from the driver.

Whilst this is great for road use i wasn't sure how much of the SLR "experience" would be gone on track.

As the car set up can affect this so much its perhaps not something that can be answered. But comments from past/present owners always help!

The weather for Friday is looking good, nearly there! cool

Done lots and lots of days in both CSR260 (Superlight spec) and other Caterham Superlight varients (de-dion).
Set-up aside, taking two standard cars to the same circuit and without wanting to compare the lap times, I'd have more of a smile on my face driving a de-dion car. However, as with most things Caterham this is just my opinion.
I'd still go R400 though.....

After driving: CSR 260, C400, R400, R500, C500 i personally prefer the R400 on the track.

More lively, more fun to drive and with the K engine its lighter and more nimble in my opinion.
However the Duratec variant with a proper setup isnt far off.
