Nigel, S3 R500 in Lotus Team Colours or a CSR
I walked through the Factory last week and remembered seeing a car in Team colours...The Service department gave me their new 175 R300 spec Duratec courtesy car to drive which had 120 miles on the odometer.. returned it two tanks later with 550 miles on it...Awesome fun i couldn't get enough of it... i want to sell my K series 160 VVC and get a Duratec now...definitely the way forward

You've got yourself an R500D?
If you have, your boy will be happy, did you break the news to him about the old one?
Nice colours by the way.
My old R300...
Mick, you win the prize!! Well done, the winners prize is a trip in my new Car!!If you have, your boy will be happy, did you break the news to him about the old one?
Nice colours by the way.
My old R300...
Yes Tom knows all about it and can't wait, he had thought the old one was at the "Caterham Garage!" but he now knows the real reason!!
Cheers!!

Two comments:
1.It's a factory built superlight with carbon rear wing option.
2. I told you so!!!
I'd also hazard a guess that this one is a 6 speed manual instead of the sequential. How am I doing so far?
Very very well done and good observation!! The second prize is also a trip in my new car!!1.It's a factory built superlight with carbon rear wing option.

Another good observation, it was probably my car that was one of the three Team Lotus Build cars at the factory, there was also a CSR there in Team Lotus Colours too!!I walked through the Factory last week and remembered seeing a car in Team colours...The Service department gave me their new 175 R300 spec Duratec courtesy car to drive which had 120 miles on the odometer.. returned it two tanks later with 550 miles on it...Awesome fun i couldn't get enough of it... i want to sell my K series 160 VVC and get a Duratec now...definitely the way forward

Time for my contribution.
My first Seven. Sold after I year to Noger who pulled it apart about 10 years ago and has never finished reassembly!
(1700 Crossflow on a 244 cam- approx 140bhp)
Then onto K2RUM in order of resprays!

This colour until the fateful 120mph roll at Goodwood on October 1st 1994.
Std Caterham Evo 235 engine with Quaife S/C H/D 5 speed box. In reality it only gave 207 crank bhp on the rollers and was limited to a pathetic 7800rpm.
Rebuilt in Dayglo orange. The first ever Caterham this colour. Pic taken on a track day at Silverstone when McLaren were setting up for a test in 1995.
This time it had the engine internals upgraded to steel rods, Jenveys (it was the first Caterham with Jenvey injection)and MBE management. Gave around 250bhp on JPE cams. Paid SBD to fit the first Pace dry sump system to a Caterham. Wish I hadn't - their incompetence cost me £thousands and another new engine.
Then the effects of UV on the paint meant a rebuild over the winter of 1998/9 and on to Yellow as that was the only other fluorescent colour apart from pink.
Engine received steel crank 90mm stroke/88m bore pistons - circa 280bhp.
After a couple of years the engine had an oil failure and a new crank of standard stroke was used as the 90mm crank was no longer available. Power dropped a bit, Redline was pushed up to 9750rpm. At this time it also got a sequential box and a tiny QM clutch.
Another blowup a couple of years later when another well known VX engine expert sold me some duff bearings. At this time it also got new injection (8 injector) and the "upturned ocean liner" airbox. This was the spec when it was recorded at 159mph, on the limiter and trying to take off!
Then in 2004 I had a bit of a dilemma. Orange (again) or green? Luckily my then 6 year old son has some inspiration from his body warmer....
Everything was stripped an rebuilt. Engine mods including more heads work (+2mm valves) gave it 284 to 316bhp depending upon whose rollers it sat. It felt even more stupidly fast.
It all ended because of this....A collapsed road foundation and a trip into the undergrowth via 2 concrete fence posts and an old tree stump. All 4 corners bent, £15k to replace all the carbon alone! Running gear is now winning races in a Westfield.
Best remembered how it was best known though. Normally this:
