Hello, I am very grateful to stumble across this forum. I am from Melbourne Australia and am looking to buy a Lotus 7 S4 after this COVID-19 lockdown. I came across somewhere in this forum about getting a manual. Can someone be kind enough to point to how I can get one? I tried downloading a link Iain posted in 2018 but was unsuccessful.
Thank you very much.
John

Hi everyone,
I managed to successfully download a manual via a link that Le Sept (Iain) posted on 27/3/2018 in page 36. It took 7 attempts and I finally got it. Persistence pays! If anyone need one, you can try downloading from Iain's link as it still works. If you have difficulties, shoot me an email. Thanks again Iain!
Cheers!

Nope I was wrong only the shocker bolts holding the bar in. [see pic]
Must have been another car with the extra 2 bolts, maybe a dutton robin hood or westfield

Finally re-addressed this in yesterday's blistering heat. Discovered a 7/16" AF additional locating screw each side, masked by the shocker. Bit of a fiddle to remove but doable with wheel/shocker in situ. Roll over bar then came out no problem. Copper Ease had been applied with a trowel - this is after I'd wiped it!Nope I was wrong only the shocker bolts holding the bar in. [see pic]

Hi all.
Been clearing out my old chaps things and have found a bonnet and front wings off his old S4 7 (J 1970).
They were replaced in around 1985 ish and he kept these old ones.
They are in average condition having been replaced by new ones.
Just wondering if these still hold any value or are still sought out for repairs etc and could be of use.
Best wishes all
Rich

Scrap 'em - they're both available new - front wing was £80 + vat a few years ago when I asked
Not sure about bonnets £, but Modern fibreglass is much tougher than original 50 year old originals, which crack and star badly
Hope this helps

Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Cheers for the advice.

Hi,
I own a Steel Brothers S4, chassis number 3014. I've had it stored fully dismantled for a few years (actually, since 1982) and thought it was about time I got it on the road again.
The car had a rough life before I bought it so I took it off the road and stripped it down to check the chassis for damage and also added a few tubes to stiffen it, back in 1982.
I have to do some repairs to both the main mouldings, some bobbins are loose, some of the bobbins have been drilled out as they didn't line up with the holes in the chassis.
Since these two mouldings form an integral part of the structure what I want to know is are the upper and lower body mouldings bonded together before they are inserted into the chassis?
I also have a blue print of one of the original factory drawings showing some of the chassis dimensions so will use this to check my chassis.

Hi, I am hoping someone who owns a Steelbrothers S4 with a hardtop can help me. My question is can the soft top which is folded (not opened) be kept on the car if the hard top is in place. The reason I am asking is for interstate freight purposes where I have to buy extra space if the soft top n hardtop cannot be on the car at the same time.
Cheers!! John

Hello everybody. I am new to this forum, living in the middle part of Norway and restoring S42659GT.
I am going to order a lot of brake parts, and wonder if somebody knows the length of the brake hoses?
The old ones are all 385mm, but I think the rear ones should be shorter. I am considering to buy Stainless steel versions and maybe Spitfire kits could fit?

After I took the car off the stands I noticed that the front wheels have a very aggressive negative camber. The manuals all indicate that the S4 was designed to run with no front camber.
The only parts I have replaced during the restoration is the vertical uprights and the trunnions which leads me to believe that the new vertical uprights have a slightly different geometry than the ones I took off.
Any suggestions on how to alter the camber on the S4?

Replacement left and original right. Are there different camber options?
