Hi there,

A friend of mine has a Vauxhall Zafira 1.6 Petrol (manual) and it has developed an odd issue. When warming up/hot, a high pitched, constant noise will occur from the engine area and the only way to stop it is by decelerating/braking.

I've heard about the rocker cover breather hoses breaking and a new rocker cover being required, which gives the same symptoms as my friend's Zafira.

Any help would be greatly received. Many thanks smile

hi there, there is a good chance it could be the water pump these ones are prone to have the pump ceasing and the timing belt drags over its pulley making the horrible noise.

Eventually the belt will break - quite quickly actually!!

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the alternator...
But the noise came accompanied of a burnt smell...
