Hi guys,

As previously posted - I recently purchased a VX astra MK5 Sri 07. The "wheel wobble" I previously posted about hasn't gone, however I have had it down to two garages and both found the RDS coil spring to be snapped in half and hanging off and the front near side anti roll bars to be f"d. All has been fixed and they think the problem of wheel wobble is due to crap tyres and balancing. Something that can wait as I'm Changing to 18" pentas at the end of the month.

The problem I'm having now is after I got it home from the garage, I was sitting outside (Tesco - joy) waiting for my partner to do the shopping in the rain, had the heater on full demisting front window (may be irrelevant) and suddenly, the EML came on in orange. Drove home. Restarted engine, gone. No EML. I've just got back from from a 200 mile round trip and still no EML, however.... me and my partner switched seats half way through the journey (I couldn't be bothered to sit in traffic) and he moved his chair all the way back. I moved passenger chair forward. Air bag light appeared on dash in red.

Now I'm pretty sure our musical chair game has caused it to rear it's head, but from what I've read - even if you do fix it the airbag light will stay on unless it's cleared in tech2. So no amount of wiggling the under chair wires is going to get rid of it?

I'm hoping that's just usual google search rubbish, and I don't need tech2 to wipe the light off. I also read if I don't leave the car to stand over night I could deploy the airbag by wiggling it, again, I'm hoping that's bull - but it's made m step back and wait for the all clear before I attempt to wiggle it around trying to switch it off.

I'll probably need to wiggle and poke the wires under both chairs knowing my luck lately, as it could have been either of us that switched it on.

My other halves answer to it is just "leave it it'll be fine"
He said that about my previous car and two weeks later the engine seized up so I'm not listening to him anymore 👍🏻😁😁😁

If you just leave it you'll fail the MOT.

If you're in the West Midlands I can read the fault code and clear it for you.

I have an 05 Astra SRi in the same shape as yours, and the airbag light has come on twice in the time I've had it and not reappeared after starting it. It doesn't store a fault for it. So I would say that if it's remaining, there is a fault.

I think the connector for the seat airbag may have some loose when you moved it

The airbag light won't need a tech 2 but ideally you want some sort of code reader so you know what seat it is. From there you can start to check the wiring. Wiggling the wires won't cause the airbag to deploy but you should disconnect the negative side of the battery before carrying out any repair work.

I'm based in Edinburgh if your nearby. I specialise in Vauxhalls, mainly the M32 gearboxes, but do all sorts of diagnostic and repairs
