Sports Exhausts

I read some time ago that the exhaust on the VX was part of the crash protection, not sure how true this was but think it was in the sales brochure, but any way,

fitting a sports back box would this affect the crash protection on the car?

The answer is yes and no.

Supposedly it is part of the crash structure, but how effective an exhaust would actually be in a crash is debatable. I have changed mine and I don't think it has been a concern of any VX owner I know.

In any event, a rear shunt would have to get past the engine to seriously injure a driver.
