Can anyone tell me if the VX220 Turbo has a fly-by-wire throttle or not? I realise that it is a modern engine and probably has a FBW throttle in other Vx cars.

thanks.

The VX220 n/a model does. Not sure if this helps or not

Thanks, that is very helpful.

I've test driven a lot of cars lately, and 90% of those with fly-by-wire throttles have a delay betwene pressing the throttle and the engine responding, are therefore impossible to balance in a corner, and therefore off my shopping list!

It depends how the manufacturer has implemented it - The Renault Clio V6 is pretty good, and I could live with it. I don't know what the RX8 is, but if it is a FBW they've done a cracking job! Similar for the MR2. The Nissan 350Z and all BMWs are dreadful to drive because of it and complete non-starters!

Test drive a VX before taking it off your shopping list. If I hadn't known about the fly-by-wire I would never have guessed by driving one.

I'm assuming that the VXT is in the 10% ;-) Lotus aren't stupid and they developed it!

I have an M3 and that is not dreadful to drive. Does that have a problem?

Does the M3 use fly by wire though, or a throttle position sensor and a cable?

This is all quite interesting, because the BMW 330i coupe is absolutely dreadful (along with the other new BMWs I've driven: X3 3.0i, X3 2.5i, 116i, 118i and 120i). I regrettable owned a 330i for a few months (as long as it took me to get rid of the damm thing). I've never driven or been in the M3, but I'd be very interested to find out what that's like.
