Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I'm a TVR owner and don't know much about VX variants. In an M6 motorway service station today I spotted a black VX/Speedster with VX220 badge on the back, no Vauxhall or Opel badge anywhere, and a German sounding name on a badge on the front. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the car is?
thats strange i just looked at their site and you are right the VX - Speedster is not listed thats suprising 
Vauxhall offered a replacement grill by Steinmetz on the VX220 - could it have been this? The VX is known as the speedster in Europe, so to have VX220 on the back it must have been a UK car (or someone's been 'investing' in badges 
).
A fair few owners have taken the griffin off the back of their VXs.
Edited to add: and as your question is "what was it?", it'll be a VX220 - bound to be a NA rather than a turbo, or it'd have had turbo written on the back too. Other ways to tell the NA from the T are by the "ears" on the side vent - on the T they stick out to scoop in air, on the NA they're not present, you just get a black grill. The T also comes with front splitters and a rear lip spoiler on the boot, but many NA owners have added these (they do improve the looks a little) - I can't think of anyone who's added "ears" though, as (IMHO) they spoil the lines of the car.
