Hi John,

Hope you're enjoying your VXR!

Just in case you haven't found it yet: www.vx220.org.uk

A lot of owners of all types of VX are on there. There are definitely a few others in Wales.

No such thing as a VXR turbo.

You can choose from:

VX220

VX220 turbo

or

VXR220

OK, the VXR 220 is a VXR turbo!

Nonsense, Thorney appears to be mega busy at the mo (I think his shop's website is being revamped at the moment). I had similar problems getting an account, it took some time and a few emails, but he eventually sorted it out and was very gracious about it.

Try emailing the other admin, TurboTomato, as well - there should be a link on the 'contact admin' page.

Whatever you do, don't bother with the other type116 site, they're the most cliquey and unwelcoming bunch of assholes you're likely to come across

Hey Joe

Currently having a nightmare with leaking - weather's been terrible and the car is leaking worse than a Lotus - really really unhappy about this. Even with a hardtop and turbo seals.

It appears the problem is with the driver's window not going up far enough and leaving a gap between the seal and the top of the glass - I'm trying to find out how to adjust it at the moment.

If I can get the leaking stopped then I'll be utterly in love with the car - it drives brilliantly and never feels anything other than 100% reliable, nothing like the Elise I had, it starts first time every morning and has that air of reliability and solidity. It's brilliant, just need to get the leaks stopped.

Basically it feels just like a mini Noble. Just what I wanted (didn't want to buy another M12 for financial reasons...)

Need to sort the leaks before I start souping it up though, I don't have a garage so this is of utmost importance!!!

I was i the same situation, when i first got mine it was fine, no leaks at all, took it in for a service and was told they have some new turbo seals to do on warrety, great i thought. When I got it back there was nearly an inch or so gap on the passenger side window, took ages booking it back in with 2 different dealers to get it sorted.

Since then there have been some very good diy posts, have a look here

No, but that especially applies to you Turboman!

But seriously, the 116 site has nothing to do with the VX220, just a bunch of disgruntled idiots most of whom did own a vx and wished they still owned a VX220. You should see the crap they talk about.

If you want to see what it is really like, put it to the test, register, ask a question and stand back!!! LOL

Heh, just spotted this after spotting the other post on the .org - so a big THANKS MATE to you as well Joe!

Have printed off both pictorial threads on a nice colour laser printer and will be pulling both my doors to pieces either this weekend or the week after - my current contract finishes on Friday and with no chance of getting another job just before Christmas I'm going to kick back and chill out for a few weeks.

May even get creative with the door cards - there's a haberdashery (great word) in Tunbridge Wells that sells all sorts of fabrics, I quite fancy black alcantara doors instead of the dodgy vinyl...

(and as to the 'welcome' I got on type116 - well I'm sure there are some friendly guys there, somewhere, but the overriding impression was very simply that it was a club for a close set of friends ONLY and everyone else can piss off. Just my opinion based on experience)

A little harsh. I agree there was a bit of a petty period. But it's really not as bad as some make out. Just an alternative place - by no means a replacement/competition for .org - that's where the best info lies.
