My goal within the next 2 years is to import a GT350 or a Camaro Z28. They both seem pretty bullet proof, Camaro's 7.0 V8 has gone pop for a few people though.

Ultimately because it's American parts are cheap and available, you won't have a scenario like an out of warranty Porsche GT3 where a new motor is near £50k.

Or buy a second hand one and investigate any warranty work done to decide if it's a lemon.

The LS7 in the Camaro is the same engine as I had in my C6 Z06. They suffer from a flaw in the valve guides(or hollow valves I cant remember which exactly) that wear prematurely leading to play in the valves then they snap and take the engine our. I know of 2 friends who have had engine rebuilds because of this problem and it led me to sell my Z06 in the end as I didn't fancy having to fork out for a new engine.

I saw this one in a post on MOCGB. £40k seems pretty steep considering the damage. I have no idea what it will cost to fix GT350 bodywork in the UK but I doubt it will be easy or cheap!

We delivered a Shelby GT500, years back, pre 2014 model and the vehicle was damaged in transport. Nothing major, but some nasty body work scrapes.

Anyway, the Sales Manager, urgent to get the delivery down, made a promise that the vehicle would be 'returned to new - nothing to worry about - by the factory repair guys' AND put it in writing before the customer signed off on the delivery. Customer drove off and returned a week later asking about his repair. Sales Manager, still being a bit of a......Car Sales Manager....set up an appointment with the local body shop to get it repaired.

Calls the customer and informs him to go to 'insert name of small, but Ford Approved Body Shop' and the customer refuses to acknowledge that the car is a Ford. It is a Shelby GT500 - and quote ' requires returning to the Shelby Factory for repair as you promise'

Customer stuck to his guns and sure enough, the car was shipped back to the US to be repaired. He forfeited delivery of the GT500 due to the shipping etc....but, got to drive one around for a week, I guess!

(Car was delivered to a US Military guy in Europe hence shipping etc)
