Anyone hoping to import a 2016 GT350 to the UK?
Discussion
These cars are very rare , I have been in the states now for nearly a month hunting one down to view in Florida , no joy , either no car to view or one just left for customer, there are thousands of the standard ones , got lucky a few days ago and spotted one on International drive, looked and sounded superb.

I got the chance a week ago to get up close and personal to a GT350. ( there is a secondary MAS release of 2016's)
Very very nice. The arches, front bumper but especially those wheels!
Wow! ...... you're a lucky boy! Did you get to fire it up? Was it an R with the carbon wheels? Still hoping for a miracle from Ford with regard to UK availability Very very nice. The arches, front bumper but especially those wheels!

Cheers for the info, very interesting. I'll be bookmarking the homepage just in case Ford don't give us our own car to play with The prices look a bit on the high side though if that's for a base model, I suspect about what Bill Shepherd will want for getting you one. I worked out what it would cost me to import a top of the range R (assuming I could get one at MRSP) and it was a lot less that 83,000 euros! The GT350 are what, $45k US?
Which is £31k.
Add £5k shipping and differentiators to make it UK legal, why are we being charged double that price? Even adding on 20% for VAT doesn't get you near to that!
If they were £40k or so I'd buy one but I find it ridiculous that car makers in the US do this regularly, performance bargains like Corvettes, Vipers, and Stangs, considerably and ridiculously over priced vs their native country.

Here's one with 10 miles on for $68,980 in Jonesboro, AR which is £47,250 today.
So add shipping to port - sea freight - insurance etc (say £3500) and VAT (£9,450) and conversion/IVA (£1500) and you've spent £61,700 - there are several advertised on mobile.de in Germany for just under €90,000 (£69,000)

You forgot 10% import duty, which is added to the cost of the car including shipping. Call it £49k landed, then 10% duty (£4900) then 20% VAT (£10780) then IVA and registration (£1500) grand total £66180So add shipping to port - sea freight - insurance etc (say £3500) and VAT (£9,450) and conversion/IVA (£1500) and you've spent £61,700 - there are several advertised on mobile.de in Germany for just under €90,000 (£69,000)

No prob. Personally i'd get a regular gt and built it to gt350 specs. Of course it wont hold its value like a gt350 but it can just be as good for a lot less.
can you switch out the crank to a flat plane?Converting a regular car sounds like a much more expensive way of doing it to me, especially to 'R' spec. Engine, gearbox, diff, completely new bodywork forward of the windscreen, suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, cooling, exhaust, wiring and software, seats, trim. It's a big list.
Excellent Jay Leno video attached. I was interested, excited, envious - and dare I say, hopeful - all in equal measure!
Sorry, can't seem to get the link to work, you'll have to do a 'cut and paste' to your browser.
