I used to commute across Town in a 4.6 V8 Mercury Grand Marquis. That averaged 12mpg in traffic and I'm sure my Mustang would have been the same.
TBH your Marquis had an older tech engine so I'd be surprised if the Coyote didn't give better town consumption
Well probably 30- 40% of my miles are on motorways at 30mpg, so for my overall average of 23mpg my urban mileage must be a bit below 20mpg- and it isn't commuting, so not much stop start. On that basis I'd expect 15mpg at best for town commuting even with the Coyote..

Still, it's better than my old RX8- that WAS thirsty.

It’s called ROADTRIP (HD)

The free version does one car, but if you buy the app you can do a number of vehicles..smile

My GT convertible has averaged 16 over 600 miles but it’s new to me so I’m playing . when I picked it up, on the way home I averaged 24, but was using one of the most speed sensitive roads, so no fun.
MPG is not really an issue as it’s a fun car which will do around 2k a year.
I guess if you are doing big miles, it would add up
Interestingly I hired a Camaro ss with the cylinder saving stuff, it averaged nearly 30 over 3000 miles in the US last summer.

Mine is a GT and as it's in France, it's 17.9 liters /100 km average since bought in July 2017, with just under 5,000 km on the clock now. This works out to 15.78 miles/imperial gallon in proper units.

However to qualify, most of that is sat in traffic going up and down hills rather than open road, although when on the open road i am not exactly coasting along.

I moved to fuelly on android and ended up buying the premium version, it has all the features plus more but I taste roadtrip as better as I only really want fuel not all expenses of the car

It only takes a few minutes to set up a spreadsheet to do this which will run on just about anything!

MPG: Over 9058 miles from new it has averaged 22.7 mpg. Best tank to tank was 31.18 but this was a gentle motorway cruise at ~ constant 70mph. Worst tank to tank was 17.5 mpg of rather 'spirited' driving. Considering the size of engine, car and performance I consider this remarkably good.

Running In : Just drive normally for the first thousand miles or so - my rule of thumb is no more than 2/3 throttle, 2/3 max revs or 2/3 max speed over this period. These restrictions still allow you to 'burn off' the majority of other vehicles on the road. Gradually increase these limits up to 1500 miles and then feel free to rag the arse of it at will - but always, always warm the car up before doing so. Adopting this approach I found the big V8 consumed one litre of oil in the first 3.5k miles but absolutely nothing more since.

2017 5.0 manual.

On a recent run from Cheshire to Cambridgeshire (mix of A roads, dual carriageway and M1) it did 310 miles before I got nervous and refilled the tank with a supposed 15 miles of range left. That’s approx 24-25 mpg on a long run unsung cruise control set to 80 units of speed on the dual carriageways and motorways.

My 2020 S6 diesel has averaged 8 litres per 100km over the last 6 months.

On a recent 200km run including some fast Autobahn and a few A roads my 2017 5.0GT averaged 8.2.

I am sure my Mustang is a great big liar. biggrin

I have to hold my hand up and admit that I'm an idiot. biggrin

Had another look at it on Saturday.

The Audi displays litre per km, i.e. 8/100.

The Mustang displays km per litre, i.e. 8/1.

Crafty buggers tricking me like that. I now have no idea how much fuel it uses, which is fine by me, actually. laugh
