Hi all

Just bought my first mustang and looking for help in relation to converting rear lights so that I have an amber indicator.

Not keen on converting the reverse lights (they are low and barely visible to other drivers)

Also not looking to spend hundreds on LED lights as I will only use the car on the occasional afternoon country drive.

Any ideas or recommendations to get the car through its first MOT, so I can go have some fun.
Many thanks

Dean

to do it neatly, you'd need to stump up the £200 for some nice LED versions.

If you're handy, you can buy the lenses below and modify the unit to take another bulb: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

Or you can check the build date on your 66 and see if it's pre Sept 65, where flashing red stop indicators are acceptable.. My 66 was Nov 65 build, V5 says 65. I'd be going with flashing red either way.

Mustangs Unlimited are currently selling the Euro lenses (i.e. amber indicators) for $49.77, That sorts the lenses and you can either sort a bulb holder to put into your existing lights or I did it with the Scott Drake triple bulb kit ($37.78 from Mustangs Unlimited). Much cheaper than LEDs.

I have also seen one car where the owner sourced the amber lens from scrap yard and glued that into his existing lens (using the bezel to hide the join) and put a bulb behind for the indicator - so it can be done real cheap and still look decent if you want to get more involved.

Either way you'll need to run a new line from your brake switch to the back of the car to separate the brake lights from the indicators.

Unfortunately there's a good chance the lights will be the least of your problems for its first UK MOT. Many a nice looking 'restored' old Mustang recently imported that are horror story's underneath
