In regards to price increases, the outgoing model was 38k OTR and new model is 41k. Ok currency changes may make a slight difference but even the unspecced car has quite a number of upgrades, i drove current model for the first time a couple of months ago and felt it wasn't quite enough of a premium feel in the cabin, plus it didn't sound dramatic enough (v8 auto) but i have placed an order for a new car. I am downsizing aftet many years of sports car ownership. Previous car 911 gts £100k and currently have mclaren 540c £138k which i bought new in august. When you have looked at the option prices at that level, believe me the mustang with the magnaride and custom pack is still a total bargain.
These are all second cars in the garage, and the bottom line is they have to feel special every time you take them out, the top end stuff is now at a point where the differences are minimal between them and the prices are borderline taking the pi**. At low 40k the mustang is the only stand out thats not like anything else, its not trying to be a porsche or an bmw Mcar, and that to me is a big part of the appeal.
Amen to all of that. Precisely why I bought my Mustang. Plus recently I've been reading and watching a lot of stuff about Ford's heritage such as Shelby, Ford GT40, Bullitt, James Garner's Mustang in "Grand Prix" etc and realised that Ford has a great racing/sports car heritage which comes through in the Mustang and Ford are really good at preserving this heritage. These are all second cars in the garage, and the bottom line is they have to feel special every time you take them out, the top end stuff is now at a point where the differences are minimal between them and the prices are borderline taking the pi**. My dealer is talking loosely about £8k to swap my Jan 17 V8 GT Convertible for a new model of the same spec, with room for a bit of a haggle.
It's only done 1200 miles so I don't feel it's the best deal, but when there's a 2018 model in the showroom I'll go and see one in the flesh and see where we end up.
That sounds like a steal to me (if you can get Magnaride thrown in). It's only done 1200 miles so I don't feel it's the best deal, but when there's a 2018 model in the showroom I'll go and see one in the flesh and see where we end up.

£140 for less than an invoice price of £40K. Anything over £40K attracts a £310 loading for years 2 -> 5.
Based on the price list, it looks like:- Anything in 5.0 GT form will be over the limit (with the exception of the Fastback Manual, but it's £39,015 so you need £1k of options - so with paint and either the custom pack or the obvious choice of magnaride, it's over £40k).
- Ecoboost will be fine, but the convertible will be pushing it.
A tad more than the £38k my current MY17 set me back.
What sort of deals are people expecting from these? I haven't looked into yet but might be in a position in a few months for one.
I dunno how popular the V8's are over here in the UK so guess that depends on what sort of deals are being offered. I would be happy for the current model as assume deals will be better and not a huge difference in spec?

Anyone know if the DRL will be somewhere near the headlights/Tri bars or will be again near the fog lamps?

LED headlights (with integrated daytime running lights and automatic activation, high beams and levelling).
So yeah, proper job this time!Sigh.
Just read the 2018 UK model will *still* get a crippled power output compared to LHD models.
It would be nice if the UK didn't get the lowest powered Mustang V8 model in the world at some point.

Hardly crippled. You can recover the power lost by spending a few quid. The one thing I’ve never thought about my 2016 is “this could do with more power”.Just read the 2018 UK model will *still* get a crippled power output compared to LHD models.

According to Ford UK the dealer demo cars will be in build early-mid Feb, so should be in dealers mid April. This will be the first batch of RHD 2018 cars, and I'm told nearly all of these will be dealer demos/press cars for RHD markets. The first customer cars will be built in early March, dad has been given a date of March 8th (5.0 Auto Coupe).
Changing the subject a little, the old man sold the car back to the dealer on Wednesday afternoon, and by Friday afternoon it had been paid for and driven away! Ford main dealer, Nov 16 Grabber Blue 5.0 GT Auto, all options minus Custom Pack, 4.5k miles, just serviced.

I can't remember exactly what it was he paid, but IIRC the difference between list and trade-in after nearly 15 months and ~4.5k miles was ~£6k.what was the depreciation like on the Nov 16 car?

This time around he's gone for Orange Fury, Custom Pack 2, 5.0, auto gearbox. Still don't think it will look as good as the Grabber Blue one he's just sold... Great car, I grew very fond of it in the few hundred miles I covered in it. Look forward to trying out the 2018

I think the dealers you have spoken to have no clue like most Ford dealers. My 2018 was gate released and should be here Mid March. I know of several others who have a similar time frame for delivery.Changing the subject a little, the old man sold the car back to the dealer on Wednesday afternoon, and by Friday afternoon it had been paid for and driven away!
