Just returned from a 3 week holiday to the USA and was lucky enough to pick up a 2019 600 mile Mustang GT 5.0 convertible from Avis. Majority seem to be 2.3 ecoboost.
Our road trip kicked off in San Francisco and finished in Seattle 7 states and 3800 miles later...mostly across the Rockies...altitude almost always 6000+ feet.
We encountered all sorts of weather including snow and cruised at 65 -80 mph depending on state. Lots of stop start work around parks in Utah and yellowstone.

Have to say car was great all rounder...a real GT and at least 1/2 the distance was with top down. Sound was epic through the 4 exhausts...loved it.

Anyway set the trip computer at the beginning so can anyone guess what average mpg was?

Will post a pic. of trip computer at end of the week with final figure.

I averaged 17mpg in a V8 Camaro SS on a two week trip to the US a few year back.

So I'm guessing something like that.

Gas was equivalent to around 50p/litre thumbup

Given recent experience with Ford's smaller engines, I'd say it low 20's (UK mpg).

Our 10 year old 5 cylinder diesel XC90 gets mid 30's average and it rarely sees a motorway. The Ford Edge courtesy car we had with a smaller powered 2 litre 4 pot diesel managed 22! That's less than my M135i :-0

Valid question.

I converted the US gallons to Imperial when I got home, so it was comparable. So I guess that would be 17mpg (UK) or around 14mpg ('Mercia).

My long term average is 19. It’ll do high 20’s sat on a motorway quite comfortably so I’m going to go with 25mpg UK so 20.8mpg US

Some very interesting guesses. So here we go:

27.7 US mpg which equates to 33.2 UK mpg!

Quite shocked at how economical it was and whilst we did stick pretty close to speed limits (as most people seem to do in US) at no time was it driven with economy in mind.

Overall we were both really impressed with it and would consider buying.

Big dog 3 you were the closest....well done!
