Hi all - anyone else ordered a Mustang and is now suffering with production delays? I originally placed an order for a GT last summer and was advised that chip shortages would push delivery to just before xmas. However in November I got a call from the dealer to advise that no builds would be taking place until at least Feb (22) which would see me getting the car cApril time! Yesterday a further update from them to advise that there will be no builds in Feb either, which I assume now pushes mine back to at least May time (or maybe later)!

I know that the industry as a whole is suffering on the back of the chip problem but wasnt sure if anyone else was having such lengthy delays (as me)?

Every single manufacturer is suffering production delays and has been since, well not too far of a year now, I have had to tell people that their order, which was placed 6m ago, can no longer be fulfilled, or at best has gone back a month, oh another month, me again another month!

I ordered my Mach 1 in December 2020. In February 2021 I was given a build date of March and delivery in May. It was October 2021 before I was actually able to collect it.

A total wait of 10 months, and that was when the situation was not as bad as it is now!

You could always buy my 5.0 V8 manual convertible to fill the gap until your new one arrives!

Every manufacturer is the same... It's even six months on a new MINI and they don't have to be shipped across the pond.

It's 20 months since I ordered a RHD Corvette, and I don't have a build date yet.

I ordered mine in July 2021.

Around October I was told it had gone to build then two weeks later I was told actually it hadn’t, they had to cancel the order and I had to re order the 22 year build which had different colours and specs (none of which they could tell me much about)

I changed colour to Grabber Blue Metallic and re ordered.

Today I had confirmation that the car is now built and in transport with a delivery date of 4th April (although warned this will likely change)

It’s been a bit of a journey but hopefully it’ll be here soon!!

i've been chasing my dealership for an update and i had a call back today. It seems as though my build may have slipped through the cracks and nothing has really happened since i placed my order last July (well other than build being moved to 2022). Ford replied to my dealer along those lines and assured him that they would have my order in the next build plan. Unfortunately that was all the info he had and could offer no further info as to when that might be! So i was wondering if any of you guys had any idea of how often Ford pull their build plans together and/or any suggestions for where i might look to find that out.

I know that there is a worldwide problem with new car builds but if this is still months and months away then i think it could be time to call it a day and look for something else, but i honestly have no idea and neither does my dealership!

Sucks if it hasn't gone to build yet, the factory is shut again this week and there are still long lead times and delays.

I was supposed to get mine 4/4 that changed to 16/4 then 30/4 and now I've been told 15/5.

It's built and just sat at Flat Rock waiting to be transported.

I'd hold out if possible, not going to be many more opportunities to buy a new 5L V8 Mustang at this rate.

I ordered a new GT (2022MY) a few weeks ago, going by the above it sounds like the estimate I was given of Jan-23 might even be a bit optimistic! rotate

unfortunately I wouldnt take anything you get told as gospel at the moment, it seems as though the Dealers are somewhat in the dark and are in essence just guessing at dates etc.

Whilst i havent cancelled my order yet i have started to look at alternatives / other options!

Have you been able to track your car online?

I'm somewhat fortunate with my order that we need to move house first, so if there wasn't a 9-12 month wait I likely wouldn't have ordered one yet!

no, I wasnt aware that you could. I've been reliant on my Dealer for updates and the fact that he tells me that he has to email Ford to find out whats going on would indicate to me that he's struggling to check online via whatever system he has, as such i've not taken it any further. Maybe i should?

It used to be the case that once you had a VIN number you could track the status of your car all the way through the build- I remember this back in 2017ish when my cousin ordered his Mustang. He was checking every few days to see what the status was, and was even able to track it's movement across the pond on the boat. That was back when a 3 month wait was considered quite a long time!

I'll find out what site he used for tracking and report back- no idea if it's still a thing or not but worth a go.

I think this is the tracking site... you'll need your order number and VIN

If it's anything like the manufacturer I have sell for, a VIN won't appear until a build slot becomes available, which can take many months and obviously the longer the quoted estimated lead time, the longer the wait for a build slot.

Ah i didnt realise you didnt have a VIN yet frown

Ive been given a couple of other tracking sites to try (that my cousin used), but both still need the VIN.

Mach 1 on order 17/03/2022 est del date 10/10/2022 spec price £59,430 now saw that UK price increase to £62,650 will the dealer expect the current price on the actual collection day and what do you reckon could be the delivery date?

If you have a confirmed order form with the original price on it, then that is the price you should pay.

I'm amazed they let you order a Mach 1 as late as March.
