Hi All,

I am hoping the PH Mustang experts can help with this.

Yesterday our 2017 Ecoboost failed the MoT on the Hazard Warning Light Switch not working. When you push the toggle up, the hazards flash once and then stop. If you hold the switch up it is fine. Apparently a replacement switch comes as a full set of the toggle switches and starter button and is £700ish and on back order.

I am thinking that if I can get the switch out I can clean it up and get it functional again. Presumably I need to remove the fascia in the centre area to get at it?

Any advice and ideas would be much appreciated.

From EX Auto elect......try a good Electrical cleaner....spray well in the switch, could well free up the spring inside the switch.... switches not used often get full of Dust...and jam up. worth a try...... Peter

£700 yikes

The Mustang was a hell of a bargain when I ordered my GT back in 2015 but the sum of all the parts.....

My windscreen cracked and the replacement was £2000. Paid by insurance luckily.

That's like 7% of the then brand new price of the car.

Hope you get it sorted cheaply.

Try some contact cleaner as suggested by Peter.
My daughter’s car (not a mustang) recently failed the mot for a similar issue with the hazard warning switch.
A spray with contact cleaner and a minute spent working the switch on and off brought it back to life.

Tried some lubrication and have now got the switch to work, sort of!

If you switch it straight up it still gives one flash only. If you push it up slightly towards the steering wheel it continues to flash. It also feels a bit like the pivot is broken. So, new switch needed at some point.
