Going on Saturday 28th Oct (this Saturday) to get the Saleen on the dyno. Anyone used Weston Performance before? They are based in Solihull near Birmingham.

Should be around 15 of us getting there for 8.30am to get some dyno time but others are welcome to pop along and have a butchers....LOL

Well, got 434.5 bhp (Saleen rate at 425bhp for a 2005-6 )

This equates to 358.4 at the rear wheels. My only concerns are that at 5k revs the Air/ Fuel ratio was 13.8 which is very lean. So hopefully going to get a SCT tuner and reflash to sort out the A/F's...

Run along with quite a few other Mustangs and a Lightning which pulled 418rwhp with only a few mods.....

Hi there

That is an issue on all Saleen supercharged cars from the factory as its down to the MAF those guys use.
Best method is to get an upgrade kit from JDM, it will make you more power and you will have no more leaning out issues.

I am at 532BHP with the Saleen supercharger with a perfect AFR upto 6800rpm.

What blows these engines mainly is poor tunes, a good tune can see good safe reliable power.

Gibbo,

Thanks for that. I have a stage 2 JDM kit already to fit so will hopefully get some decent figures once its set up.
Going to try a run what ya brung at the Pod in March.

Nice on Kev.

Am watching with interest as the Saleen is my current favourite if I go 'charged - despite the lack of warranty yes

11! bounce

I've read with interest Gibbo's stuff about JDM. VERY good company from what I've seen around the forums. From personal experience, leaning out on a supercharger is BAD! eek JDM seem to have got it sussed with their tunes and a 'safe' 450bhp seems eminently achievable.

However, remember that US hp and UK bhp are not the same thing!

Hi there

Yes US 450HP is at the wheels. Which is about 510BHP at the crank!

Our engine with the correct tune and accompanying parts such a fuel pumps, injectors, MAF etc seem OK upto around 480HP at the wheels which is around 560BHP. Its beyond 500HP at the wheels where you are chancing it.

The tune on my car is conseravtive and I went with the lower boost pulley size so in theory the lifespan of my engine as long as its not raced or revved from cold should be the same as it was pre-modded.

There are guys in the US who have the smaller pulley, more aggressive tune and have clocked over 50,000 miles with the supercharger installed and also had a few hundred runs at the dyno. So with the correct kit and tune 500BHP at the crank and even more is certainly a safe possibility.
