Evo's Longtermer up on Ebay...

I don't deny the mods transform the car, but as for adding to the value I disagree. Try trading in a modded Mustang and see if the dealer offers you more. Fat chance.

I'm not talking about trading in. A dealer will rob you while he's rogering you up the exhaust. Private sales, such as in Classic American, have a whole different enthusiast audience. It's a totally different thing to a million high spec BMW's all being traded on list price simply because all BMWs have a certain level of spec.

Agreed, that's why I've come away from Porsche - same story. All the Stealers want to take £6-8k out of a car. At least with this, I know the bid is around the £17k mark - With Porsche, I was walking out of the showroom knowing that the bid was a good £5k less the minute I drove off the forecourt!
This is still largely an enthusiasts market, unlike Porsche et al, where it's increasingly becoming a commodity, so you can look good round at the David Lloyd carpark...! All IMHO of course.....

Do you think a Saleen or a Roush will sell for less than a standard motor?
No, but given the following, warranty and sales volume, they have their own market. Even so, if you take a std. Mustang and put £10K of Saleen/Roush mods on it you've not added £10K to your car.

I know, I've had a good few American cars myself.. When modifying a car the car is only going to be more desirable (not valuable) to those who wanted the same mods and don't have other plans for the car. (See the Skyline world)
Anywho, MButchers is happy with his purchase and that's all that matters right ?
What plans do you have for the car ?

Not sure yet - need to get into this American Car thing - like I said, I'd like to personalise it a bit - Not that keen on the Roush wheels - really like the 'bullit' style, and maybe a new front bumper - maybe a exhaust too.....Mmmmm
Yeah, I wasn't too keen on the bling wheels either, the Bullits look good, but I don't think they're available in a large enough size for your calipers and I think they'll look too small in the arches unless you fit donut rubber to them.
May I suggest some Eleanor rims as per this pic

Personally, I'd also change the grey stripe for a white one and make it extend over the front bumper, though stone chips maybe a reason not to, but then the stripes are cheap as chips.
Depending on how much you're prepared to spend, you can get the car professionally converted to RHD (proper job too, no rods and levers)

Waste of time and money. When I was first looking it was something like 6K for the conversion and the car is worth no more on resale. For most people into American cars it's part of the whole experience. I wouldn't have mine converted if it was £500.
After a week of driving you don't even register the difference.

If you wanted to swap your Roush rims for some "bullits", a quick post on the MOCGB forums would get them swapped in a few minutes I'd have thought. Shame about those big brakes though!
Have a look here for exhaust sound clips:

Have to agree here.... All part of the experience - Also, I've had E30 M3 and Integrale in the past, so really not a problem - Thanks for the sound clips BTW...... After a week of driving you don't even register the difference.
Went down to Newport Imports at the weekend (for a measure up) and saw some Bullit replicas in 20" - so should be able to find some to fit over the brakes.

Will do Benny..... And I may have a set of 18" bullitts (the Ford Racing ones) for sale with tires (both brand new). Am replacing my GT/CS wheels as soon as it arrives with GT500 wheels/brakes.
You'll need to check any new wheels will fit the new brakes. This is where it gets complicated as most brake manufacturers have a template you can download to cut out and check for clearance. For example, I have 20" wheels and nothing but stock brakes will fit due to the curvature on the spokes.
I love Bullitts but so do 18000 other Stang owners. Personally, I'd stick with the silver stripes too although the current Us fashion is for 70's style black bonnets running into the grille.
There are endless ways of personalising your car from bodykits to tail light panels, different badges, grilles, painted Mustang grille badges, stripes, you name it, they do it. They also do underbonnet bling and interior bling, eg www.mgwltd.com
Edited to add: this always acts as a good incentive to add the blower...

How about some stabilisers for going round those nasty 'corner things'?
Is this a poor stab at satire? I recommend viewing the stock Mustang GT vs Exige on TG and the Roush Mustang vs Exige on Clarkson's DVD? Here's a little spoiler, the 1500kg leather-seated, 4 seater, air-conditioned Mustang did rather too well against a pseudo-stripped-out-racing car on semi-slick tyres. Meanwhile, in last year's EVO PCOTY the Roush Mustang came second in a handling test sandwiched between an M3 and a 350Z. It also does 25 to the gallon and doesn't have a rifle rack in the boot (although sometimes.......)
So....facts aside.....what's your point.....

im a big fan of seventies engineering
Since the Porsche is based on 60's engineering (in turn based on 1930's ideas of mechanical layout), it must give you something to look forward to.
Revolutionary concepts abound when you finally reach the 70's, like having the engine where it should be, not having to salute other owners with an outstretched arm, having rear seats you can fit something bigger than a marmoset into, a service bill for under £100, owning a performance car before you're 55, introduction of ridiculously bright colours (you may have to wait until the new millenium before Porsche catch up on that one), air conditioning, water cooling (don't hold your breath on that one either, the Germans advance very slowly...), a dash layout where you can reach things (like the steering wheel....) On the positive side, Porsche did invent the bling wheel and the excessively large rear spoiler and the endless "essential options" list.
And here's a sense of irony, the "retro" Mustang styling is still based on a design newer than the 911......
