Everything is fitted except the rear brakes, but the engine is in and fully mapped. Expect to collect in the next 2 weeks. TVR are swamped at the moment with work from the race teams so road cars are being delayed as a consequence.

Much as it will be great to get the car, since it's the first and only Typhon produced the journos all want a drive. The simple answer is No, that's TVRs job, so it will be quite some time before any performance figures are published or driving impressions will appear in any magazines.

First impressions WILL be posted on Piston Heads though!

Sadly I've had an update chat this afternoon and detailed planning says although I can still get to Le Mans this year in the beast its gonna be very close - delivery is now early June following SVA ... (still at least the weather should be better (sung to the tune of all ways look on the bright side of life .. ))

I've found out as well. Heard from an official source and all I can say is . You won't believe it when they officially announce it!

Any idea of when they'll announce the exact spec?

Hmmm.... That's not amazing considering a standard Tuscan S did 0-100mph in 8s on Autocar's 0-100-0mph shootout with at least 100bhp less, bags less torque (one would assume considering the Typhon has a supercharger), more weight and without a 6-speed sequential gearbox hence losing maybe a second in gear changes relative to the Typhon.

Still mightily impressive for a sub-£100k car. I want one!

Given the power output that I've been quoted, I would think the final performance figures will be better... much better. The full lowdown will perhaps be revealed at the Motorshow.

Can't wait to see one around the Top Gear track though

Edited to say: I bet you can't wait PrimeAl!

Power to weight wise it should be about the same as a Caterham R500 (i.e. better than an Enzo, Zonda etc..). The big question will be how well it can transmit that power to the tarmac. With a primitive form of traction control fitted as standard hopefully the Typhon will produce some pretty stunning numbers but the tyre dimension is only 255 wide and perhaps it will need some R-spec rubber to truly show it's form.

And the 500 in 'Caterham R500' relates to bhp per tonne, that'd make the Typhon 550bhp if it's 1100KG(which is what everyone has been talking about all along). Not that much of a surprise then!

A nice 550 plate would look good on one of them then.

Not quite. It's a bit more than 550bhp. Also I was referring to the R500 EVO.

As pinkpanther eludes to above, the motoring world will be shocked when it's finally announced..

As I've said before, I'm thinking it's going to be 600bhp+. I'm practically salivating at the thought and I can't even afford one!! Power to those who can and are going for it!

I would have thought 275 or 285 section rear tyres would have been better with 245 or 255 at the front?

Obviously you want to be able to feel when that much power is going to break but not instantly!

It seems cruel to keep teasing you all about the final spec, but there's just 3 weeks to go until the beast is released (otherwise heads will roll...). 4 years of waiting and it can't come too soon.

I still need to go out and buy a digital camcorder to capture prime_al as he lets loose that ***bhp in earnest.
