Skyrim SE extreme - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xIHACrF0GQ
I started playing this from christmas on PS4 when I got a bit fed up GTS and its really getting hooked. I've loaded up some of the improved homes mod this morning one for the lakeview homestead and the breezehome and honeyside homes.
Need a good stand alone mod for improving the butcher's hideout Hjerim is pretty rubbish for storage, so if anybody can suggest any other mods that would be great. I'm probably going to use the extended skyrim and people mods from a new start next time, so addition mods only not overhauls.

This is one of my most anticipated games of all time. Oblivion is one of my favourite games, I spent hundreds of hours playing it and I didn't even do any story missions
Was, surely - it was released in 2011.More locations still being made for Skyrim.

Skyrim for Alexa. Yes, it really is a thing. https://www.digitaltrends.com/home/how-to-play-sky...
I'll take one, needs to have the crystal giving off light though.
Now SKSE64 and all the other important bits are out for Skyrim Special Edition I've just reinstalled it along with Ultimate Deadly Encounters - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod... and many of the old favourites. Advised to activate UDE (via the MCM) after you have arrived in Riverwood, or after you have levelled up a bit as it can be a bit too much early on.
All in preparation for TESVI in 2021 (probably) so getting in practice early.

I know I am very very late to the party. But I just bought Skyrim after rekindling my RPG love following some retro Dragon Age play - I fell into FPS and MOBAs over the past years....
I'm just started out and swinging my sword and have seen the magic section so currently playing with some spells. I noticed on the last few pages (I didnt read all 200+) there is a lot of mods for making the game look nicer, does anyone have any suggestions or is there a list somewhere in this thread that someone can point me to?
I'm not up for modding parts of the game yet, I want to complete the base game - but to make it look nicer would be a bonus. I've seen some of the screenshots and videos online and it looks amazing with mods

Which version of the game did you buy (remastered or regular?).
What system is it for?
I played through around 400 hours on Ps3 with zero mods and had a great time.
I played another 100 hours on Ps4 remastered, couple of basic mods that you can select from the list. Enjoyed it all again.
I also bought the original version on pc when I picked up a pc Dec-17. Added tonnes of mods and it looked great and had some extra depth but wasn't necessarily much better. Just a bit different.
Reality is all are fun and you can enjoy them all in any guise.
If you have the re-mastered version it isn't dying for mods, as it looks quite nice already. It doesn't need messing with so you could just get on with playing the game.
If you bought the original version for PC then without doubt it benefits from the HD textures. Their are ratings for the mods for the PC and you can choose them that way.

Honestly...modding is a black hole from which you will, probably, never recover. There's so much out there that you will spend more time trying out mods, working out what clashes with what, taking them off, deciding you like this ENB or that weather mod and then changing your mind, than you will playing the game.I'm just started out and swinging my sword and have seen the magic section so currently playing with some spells. However, there are a couple which are absolutely essential. I'm making the presumption that you're using Skyrim SE on the PC, but all of these have equivalents in the original version as well. No idea about console versions though, sorry.
1) The Unofficial Patch. Don't even think about playing without it https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
2) SkyUI. The out-of-box UI sucks enormously. This makes it suck a whole lot less. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
For a first playthrough, that's enough to get you going although personally I wouldn't also be without:
- Immersive Armours. Good set of additional armours that are well-balanced and lore-friendly. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
- Immersive Weapons. See above https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
- Achievement mods enabler. Just adds a bit more fun and some decent perks to boot. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
- Quality world map. Because the default one is rubbish https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
- Ars Metallica, enhances the Smithing part of the game. Largely because I like to be able to craft arrows rather than having to buy or find them. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mod...
The main thing though is to get stuck in and actually play the thing. As above it's so easy to get sucked into applying and reapplying mods that you can easily stop playing the game, so the best strategy really is just to not even start.

I put well over 300 hours into the original.
And to be honest was rather miffed when they released the new remaster and was offered not even a discount.
Ouwld love to play it again, but the cost does not justify it, kind of like COD MW, I find it incredulous really.
But thousands of idiots paid up, s guess, what it will happen more and more and more.
