...Was there a better coin-op video game in the early 80's?

And for the PC (Comm 64?) Spy vs Spy or Impossible mission? or Way of the Exploding Fist? or Wizard of War(2 player) or Race Construction set?

BBC/Electron = Elite ....Brilliant in its day

The Amiga.....CANNON FODDER !!! oh ...now that was fun!

Early PC stuff.....can only think of Carmageddon

The vector graphics Atari arcade game Star Wars was awesome.... "Use the Force Luke"..."Red five, I'm goin' in".

Elite and then the follow ups Frontier and First Encounters are the best computer games ever created in my opinion. Nothing else lets you live a life in a convincing universe, with no borders to game play.

If you want it free for your PC in an improved and updated version (that runs under windows) you can get it here:

Enjoy! I am!

This will probably get stuck away in the computer forum.

I don't think you can beat Space Invaders, another favourite is Berzerk, remember that one?

As for home computing I had a Spectrum 48k - Manic Miner, Sabre Wulf, Knight Lore, Green Beret...if I reeled off my favourite games ever, I would be here all night!

Galaxian, liked it so much I have it on my P800.
The one with the submarines and depth charges - can't remember the name - loved the Hawaiian dancing girl you got after being on it for an hour or so.
Defender was cool, but too many controls for me - I was hopeless at that one.

How about Jeff Minter's Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar? Most intense game ever.

Anyone out there still got a Vectrex console !! Mines in the loft awaiting collectors status with various games including Mine Storm (Asteroids in another guise) which came built in. Reading this reminds me I'll have to check e-bay to see what prices are like.
