DayZ: Arma 2 Zombie Apocalypse Mod
Discussion
I had my best ever run so far last night - had one session that lasted a few hours until I stupidly got impatient and got mangled.
After that I had another one where everything was going well, was getting all the basics so I could head further North and try and join up with the other guys on TS, and I'm chilling out in a heavily wooded area miles from anywhere and a zombie rocks up and breaks my leg! WTF!!! No warning, no sounds of it approaching, just instantly there and I'm done in. I quickly realised that I was so far away from anything that it was simply easier to die and then and have another go tonight.
Frustrating to say the least.

So, bit of noob question, (despite being an Arma player for many years) how do you use Teamspeak??
Can someone post up a little 'how to'?
Much appreciated
It's pretty easy really - I'm an IT moron.
Download, TS3 from here - http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads/ - you'll need to know what OS you have.
Install etc... run the wizard to set up your capture & playback volumes and that's pretty much it. Often when you go onto servers, there are messages that let you know the server address/IP, just type that into the connection window and off you go.
Also, if its a clan server, they'll often have their comms details on their website.
Hope that helps - if someone else has a clearer explanation, please post.

We need to get onto the same server. I’d certainly chip in for our own.
Absolutely love this game! Completely slipped under the radar until this weekend.
Eventually got it up and running, it is a bit of trouble getting started but wow is it worth it.
A full day of play has seen me die a few times and quickly learn to avoid Zombies wherever possible. I’ve learned the best places to find basic weapons and food. I desperately want to get into a squad and work with people as solo is tough. Im yet to experience any real PVP yet, but I will run like mad because I’m too unexperianced. The best thing about this game is that Im still in that ‘learning’ stage where there is so much I don’t yet know!
I’ll be playing tonight, mission is to stock myself up and head north. If I can find a tent I can setup a home somewhere to return when I die.

Couple of things; how does it work in game?, I've seen a few vids whereby it appears you can only talk to those that are within a certain distance and they get quieter as the walk away etc - seems pretty realistic.
But if I'm down on the coast how do I tell someone 10 miles away what my location is?
Curious really.
Secondly what headset do folks recommend, I've heard about Turtlebeach but have never used one.
Cheers

The ingame chat is localised to 40 metres (I think) and the default PTT button is Caps Lock.
You're normaly dumped on the beach near one of the two large towns on the southern coast and it should be realtively easy to work out which one you're close to.
Maybe have a think about using a third party map such as http://dayzdb.com/map - how real do you want to go?
I'm a total noob but this is what I've picked up over the last week.

I'll be online as usual approx 6PM GMT UK 25, vehicles are server sided so if you want a pick up you'll have to come to UK 25 (Urban Extreme server) put your in game name down on here and your location and i'll pick you up tonight.
Cool - that'll be around 9pm for me then. My game name is 'Asterix' and hopefully by the time you're on I'll have got some gear so I'm not totally useless!I found out last night that often the hatchet is the best noob weapon as it doesn't attract too much interest when you use it, unlike the shotgun I tried out last night with one shell...

Thanks for the answers guys!
So if TS is a standalone program how do you speak to randoms?, say you stumble across some dude in the woods and want to tell him to drop his gear (lol)....
He won't be on your channel will he?
No but he'll be on local - PTT Caps Lock - when you press it, a little microphone symbol pops up on screen. So if TS is a standalone program how do you speak to randoms?, say you stumble across some dude in the woods and want to tell him to drop his gear (lol)....
