Do you not find torrents painfully slow?

I find them slow - you have to leave your computer on for days to get anything...

Thats the main reason I very rarely use them, spend days downloading something and it turns out to be c**p.

Bit Torrent is much more reliable than Kazaa. Every P2P application you use, you are bound to experience slow transfer speeds and it is not the fault of Bit Torrent for any reason, but the users because the Bit Torrent users are not seeding they are leeching! Or they don't have their internet connection and firewall correctly configured, which bottlenecks the system/network.

I've downloaded the following:

-Lots of music albums
-Morrowind: GoTY
-Thief 3

All were transferring to my PC at about 30kbps+. Can't complain. I'm very happy with using Bit Torrent.

I get stuff from suprnova.org mostly, but not always.

I agree, torrents start very slowly as the seeding takes place and can be 1-2kbps for hours, but gradually it picks up to anywhere from 30kbps to 100kbps depending on the source of the bits you're after.

Hellboy took 24 hours to download.

What's bittorent like ? I've just canned emule after a weeks experiment...kept freezing my connection, max rate I ever got was about 30K but was generally pi55 poor slow. Some of the incomings 'disappeared' ???

Contrast to DC++ where I've just taken all 3 CDs of Doom3 at 160K and that's only with a 5Gig share on this machine, most of the good hubs need >> 30Gig Might just stick with what I know.
