Subnautica, skyrim and fallout 4 only really work when using a game pad.
I know some people wont get on with them, however It's the best way I've found controlling the above games.
I've played all 3 of those with keyboard & mouse and they have been fine. But none of them lend themselves to VR really.

Subnautica comes the closest but is let down by the mappings on the Rift controllers. If that could be fixed it would be playable (although you do need to run with mods, as by default it is totally unusable in VR. With the mods, it is almost usable).

I just hope that Alyx nails it, as the controls will make or break it for me.

do you also get a better sense of speed ?
Well, I get motion sickness from VR if there is too much yaw movement, so possibly.

If you had a chair that moved etc I guess you might.
Very true. It takes surprisingly little physical movement to fool the brain when the visual cues also line up.
Need one of these!

Gameplay video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30v1UWkMBlU

Showing different methods of movement too, at 6m06 they change to continuous walking style in the game settings.

The jumping / walk think is just bizarre. Maybe not as jarring when playing but to watch looks so weird.

I just assumed you’d walk like a normal first person shooter.

Other than that looks pretty intense to me! Not sure if I can handle headcrabs in VR!

I think some people find walking around in vr not easy to cope with.. looks like you have plenty of choice

My friends knuckles are once again heading back to valve. now cost him more in shipping etc than buying it in the first place.

That's a pretty standard movement method in VR games. Many people find it reduces motion sickness.

Yeah, stops people knocking themselves out running into their walls when jump scared. Or tripping over their dog/cat and going out the open window.

Huh hadn’t actually thought about that. My room to play in isn’t actually very big. I’m gonna be punching a lot of stuff in my house laugh

It draws a virtual box for your play area that shows when you are close but its easy to miss

Yup, easy to miss.
I've properly punched my wall when fully immersed in something like Gorn. It really huts.
I've also leaned on a table to get up. That didn't go well either.

Such a shame this is VR-only - I don't have the space to make it workable without completely rearranging the living room every time.

you dont have to move around much you can do it all stood (or probably sat) in on place.

Indeed. I have a very small play area - around 4'6" x 6'2"

It means I mostly need to play seated, or stand but make sure not to move around much. But it works well enough.

Edit: It also means that I'll probably have to use the teleport feature that you see early in the gameplay, depending on what the UI is like for free movement.

It’s no good, as much as I dislike VR, I’ve decided I’m going to just have to get this to play.

I’ve missed playing half life so much I just need this,

So I don’t see any point in messing around juts going to get the valve index headset.

But the real challenge is what do we get as a computer to run it?

We need to invest in a powerful laptop for the business but there is so much choice out there.

I know we are going to need 32gb of ram and the best amount of graphics with lots of video ram, but where to start?
