If you do VIPs remember they probably do not like to be scanned on entering a station, if they are they will immediately leave and you will not be paid.

Yeah I got caught by this last night, assumed all my non-wanted passengers were ok with being scanned turned out the General I had lugged around for half an hour did not and bailed on entry to his home station FFS! Lost 4MCr on that. I check more carefully now.

Its best to just assume they don’t like it and get into station asap.

Yeah, my Python doesn't run too hot, I've got about 20s of silent running before overheating.

Or they'll be wanted and the station will blow you into a million pieces. 1 wanted person being put to death is ok to kill an entire passenger ship full of innocent civilians in Elite lol.

OK, I've done my first Smeaton orbital run... That's a pretty special way to make spacebux wobble

Sod's law, second Smeaton run, went to get a drink, feed the dog, do the dishes, then checked the game. Found I'd been interdicted and was under attack by the universe's least capable NPC bounty hunter. No idea how long he'd been pecking away at my 3A shields for but it did annoy some of my passengers.

Ouch, yeah, really really ouch.censored

So Smeaton wasn't doing it for me but spying some modular terminals on offer for passenger runs I quickly collected those and headed for Sirius expecting another faction allying taxi phase. Lucky me somehow I was already allied and the Sirius Corp so system access and Qwent invite were presented biggrin Shipping some metals and doing some minor G1 re-engineering unlocked the Palin invite so now I'm planning my biggest venture out of the bubble yet.

Python even with G5 FSD doesn't have great range but I'll pack a decent fuel scoop, maintenance limpits and some SRVs for the trip.

Any recommendations for a 5kLY destination? I might take a slow road to riches route back too.

Ceos to Sirius atmospherics in Sothis hasn't been removed yet. One small jump and supercruise to the beacon then back, around 11 million credits for 11 minutes depending on passenger cabins and faction reputation, but if you did your navy ranking there you will be starting high.

I still need to do my Palin unlock. It's been staring at me for months. Furthest I've gone is only mid 500ly from the start lol.

I'd just pick a nebula or something on edsm and head for it. Make sure that you are 500ly+ either up or down of the standard plane. That'll mean most of the systems you route through will be undiscovered.

Me and a friend from work were playing tonight, and he got interdicted by 4 different players in as many hours. Never seen so may player interdictions.

One FDL jumped him, I just sat there with my healing beams, and the FDL still ignored me.

Well after abitrarily choosing to head towards the centre of the galaxy and wandering in that general direction for a thousand light years I've decided to target the Lagoon nebula as a destination as it looks interesting, is around 5kLY away and also has a space station to turn in a butt load of data.

After that might strip my Python of everything (I've taken a KWS that's how little I though this through) as I've got a full shield and weapon loadout which means only a 30LY jump. After that maybe try for Sag A.

I've been amazed how many first discoveries I've got on what must be a well trod path.

Keep hold of your data, jump a few systems up, down left or right for a return leg to different systems for more data and sell the data to Palin to open up higher grades without having to craft modules.

I'm not going to be able to resist handing in my first discovered systems I must be nearly to a dozen now although not a single Earthlike yet. That's the next goal after 5000LY.

Feels a bit churlish to ignore all the icey rocks and secondary stars that I've left undiscovered after pinging the primary but still I don't want the journey to go on forever.

I did take the time to ping every body in a quad system though just coz.

Well in the end I was lucky I left the bubble without an optimised explorer layout and kept my 6A shield and boosters as done utter fcensoredkwit was patrolling Amundsen station in the Lagoon Nebula late last night interdicting and attacking on sight.

Not being at all interested in risking a few days jumping and scanning I high waked and switched to solo to land in peace. However I might run a few patrols next weekend although I've only got PVE loadout the griefer was in an Orca so I half fancy my chances.

I don't play a lot, but I'm slowly working up the empire ranks to get the clipper. Got jumped last night by an NPC on a passenger mission, which normally is a non-event, but this guy was expert and tooled up. I got hammered, 2% hull, lost canopy, broke and ran. Made it to the dock with 4 mins air left, flying largely blind with no hud. Encounters like that are very atmospheric (scuse pun) and show Elite at its best.
Same npc followed me to the next system after I repaired and attacked again, but I was ready for him that time smile

Id be careful of the Orca, there are some PvP space dildo loadouts.

They are huge hull tanks, and will generally ram to death.

I went out Tharg hunting with a couple people last night, great fun. Managed 3 basilisk/interceptor kills as a duo/trio. I do love the chieftain.

Yes I'm hoping I can keep him at arms length and let my turrets (2xLarge pulse with rapid fire and scramble) peck away at his shields.

Pity the nearest outfitting station is 1kLY away otherwise I'd be bringing over SCBs HRPs and MRPs along with an Interdictor.

It was exciting but I'd have been furious had he lost me all that explorer data.

On the way back from my Palin unlocking 5000LY trip to the Lagoon Nebula and then Omega mining via the Bleia Dryiae Green gas giant.
This is a great resource for finding interesting stuff to look at.

Have quite a few first discoveries to the point where i've gotten a bit blase about it and only ping something new to me or otherwise interesting.
Not a single Earthlike to my name yet though.

My favourite so far.

A ringed moon around a ringed gas giant with Andromeda and the Milky Way in the background, some 1000LY below the Lagoon sector.

A particularly pretty ice world.

WTF have they done with this game?

I got back into it recently albeit to find all my engineering mods are all out of date.

Took, my hauler up to Farseer, had all the items to unlock level 5 FSD range. Fine. Pinned the blue print, went back to where the Conda is. Blue print won't work with that ship. Fair enough. Took the Conda out to Farseer, back at level 1 ! Not enough items to unlock level 5, have to start again.

Is this how it is for every ship, every part you want to engineer, bottom level for each ship? Massive ball ache. I'm sure under the old engineering when you unlocked level 5 you kept it for all ships?

I don't have the motivation for all that bks. Which means stay away from PvP. laugh

Oh well, this is looks like a brief return.
