Anyway enough ranting, FLK that's a flipping incredible trek, when you're back near the bubble maybe we should have a P/H honor guard to accompany you the last kilolight or so blow you out of the sky before you get the chance to turn in the exploration data.
FTFY Only joking... well in mate, never had the patience, myself.
There's been a couple of moments where I've nearly turned back but I've limited myself to doing several hours a week with the odd break of a week a two which is why it's took me so long.
Making the trip to Beagle Point was something I wanted to do since I made Elite in exploration and it seemed a good time to do it when I was getting bored of the things to do in the bubble. I don't think it's something I would do again though.

Not played in a couple of years probably, definitely before Engineers. Only managed to get up to a Cobra too. Worth getting back into? Are there tutorials for Engineers or that?
I imagine you've a lot of new stuff to see. Guardians, Thargoids, Planetary landings (if you buy Horizons, which you should, right now as it's on sale 40% discount for £11 on steam)Engineers maybe someone will be able to post a guide but the stats and requirements are here
Basically unlock each engineer with certain quests (some are fun some are annoying) then bring them materials to massively upgrade your ship.

What's the go with skimmers? I've never done any of those missions, I heard you used to be able to use dumbfires to kill them enmasse from your ship rather than faffing about in SRVs.
Yes, if it's the same as it was. If there is an NPC ship on the ground it won't take off when you trigger the skimmers in your ship even if you shoot at it. But be careful, it could randomly be armed with turrets and will still shoot at you. Buy a cheap throwaway small ship to do them, sidewinder or viper. Thanks, this video has some details and links too.

Bet it's nerfed by the weekend when I can get online again.

Bingo, skimmer missions not just nerfed but almost entirely missing post today's 3.1.1 patch. Nice work FDev https://youtu.be/CKJIGKoJ-lw

Patch 3.1.2 dropped unexpectedly today, apparently to squish wing delivery missons.
I've taken up being a Robigo tourist bus driver.
Python filled with nothing but economy passenger cabins results in around 60-80M/he and plenty of G5 materials if you dont need the cash.
Not quite as soul destroying as Smeaton runs, yet.
And I've somehow made Elite in exploration

Apparently Skimmer missions are back to being viable. Anyone able to confirm?
In the last few days? I don't see anything on Reddit but to be fair gold rushes are getting nerfed so quickly people keep them to themselves.Briefly after 3.1.1 skimmer stacking was back but that got hot nerfed before even 3.1.2 came out to nerf wing missions.
Yeah, I was told it was post nerf. Seems short lived.
Under 3.1.2 they did reintroduce skimmers. However they also set the max mission count to 3...
Eta, finally back to civilised space after a small jaunt out to the Omega nebula. About 6.5kylies.
Got 19 new system discoveries, so many many planet scans however zero earth likes!

Same, I've yet to get an Earth like discovery despite finding lots of new systems.
Might grind out a Guardian FSD booster to fit to my Python and head back out of the bubble in search of an ELW.
I enjoyed the Ram Tah mission and haven't seen the new Guardian sites yet.
Been enjoying combat in the Krait lately too!
Too much to do!

Turns out having done Ram Tah 101scans has left me with more than enough Guardian data scans so gathering enough materials to unlock FSD booster, shield booster and G power distributor was pretty easy. Love how your ships' point defence will help with Guardian skimmer missiles.
Back in the bubble with a 37LY fully kitted Python
I've also given Eric the Idle low emissions powerplant and clean drives, now runs cool enough to charge the FSD while scooping.

Small update v3.2 but one very important one.
Missions.
Introduced the cargo depot mechanic to non-wing delivery missions.
So if you accept a single cargo mission you need to add it to your ship via the cargo depot. You can see and accept a mission now whilst in any ship and then switch to the right one and load up. Also these are no longer locked out if the destination is only a small/medium outposts and you you have a large ship so check you can land, if not change ship before loading up.
Not checked anything out myself accept buying a Crusader and remote engineering it.

I'm going to be gathering materials and engineering this weekend to be ready for the Gnosis Megashop jump into the permit locked Cone sector on the 5th.
Would like to get the new Guardian fighters unlocked. At the moment I'm out at Robigo in my optimised Python Bus. A tiny 2A G5 engine focused power distributor can just hold enough juice for boosting.
Made 105 Millon running tourists in just under an hour. Of course most of that instantly dispeared buying armour for my Krait.

Very true, although it'd be an adventure to arrive in open with various PVP factions patrolling Gnosis space from what I've heard.
Do you know if a fighter bay keeps the selected fighters in it while being shipped? I'd hate to find my fighter bay had lost its Guardian fighter which I won't be able to buy back on the Gnosis I think.
I hope F:Dev publish how many pilots are on the Megaship when it jumps I imagine it'll be quite a few, maybe even a thousand.
