Getting to Elite will be the big grind, suspect I will just do missions and when it comes, it comes.
Been looking at HyperX Cloud 2 headset. Seems like the Daddy!
Especially grindy now Thargoid scouts have had their rank reduced.Been looking at HyperX Cloud 2 headset. Seems like the Daddy!
My Xmas pressie to myself is an Arctis 7 to replace my decade old headset.

With that absolute leviathan of a ship I imagine it won’t take too long.
Did your paintwork even get scratched at our meeting?
G5 Prismatics with 6 boosters and a brace of Cell Banks.Did your paintwork even get scratched at our meeting?
Naaaaah
It could do with better resistance balancing though.
I treated it to a shiney bronze paintjob now with all the free Arx being given away.
No more in station photos though I swear.

Getting back in to ED after a long break.
Has anyone joined a Squadron? If so, worth doing and which one? I'm in and around Empire space but feel I need a goal if I'm going to keep playing this time.
Squadrons can be great if you find one that suits your playstyle/timing. The extra chat with more familiar people and the ability to call for help if needed just improves the game overall.Has anyone joined a Squadron? If so, worth doing and which one? Also many will have carriers deploying to interesting events or places and you can just hitch a ride,

I guess the goals that best aligned with Imperial space are: Unlock the Cutter, Prismatics and Imperial Hammers.
Knocked off the remaining 1% to reach "Dangerous" combat rank this morning, invite from Lori Jameson promptly arrived.
A further "contribution" of 25 tonnes of Konggan ale was required for full engineering access.
Swapped into the Phantom for an easy run to Kongga where I was able to buy... 24tonnes of ale as it's a "rare" commodity. I vaguely remembered a trick to enable buying more of abandoning some just outside the station then landing buying more and retrieving the floating cargo before they despawn.
What I had forgotten was the rare commodities only replenish every 10minutes. So having dumped 10tonnes then logged out (stupid!) I was very short.
Luckily I was playing in open and a fearsome bespiked Corvette in Reaver warpaint warped in and he must've noticed me floating outside and messaged me "Need any Ale? I've got some to spare"
"Err 15tonnes if you can kind sir, please and thank you sir"
"No problem here you go"
Fifteen canisters of ale dumped by me to collect and much faffing saved.
This is why, despite the occasional annoyance I love playing in open.
Party at Jameson Base will be well stocked tonight.

Should clarify, I am on a fleet carrier, wouldn’t make this journey on my own! Blimey.
499.5 ly jumps and in 7 hrs I will be at Tir, where one of the engineers lives. The others are nearby.
It’s an interesting mechanism frankly. Am in debt to Cdr GTBUncleMattMan who has allowed me to hitchhike along, amongst others.

Well. didn't take me too long to get frustrated and uninstall this again.
Bought an imperial clipper, unlocked some more engineers.. all well and good but the most basic bugs and stupid things ruin it.
The one that killed it for me this time was the combination of an infected ships massacre mission without targets in and a mission requiring me to incur a fine. Did the mission.. ah.. the nearest interstellar factors is >250ly away, and the nearest prison is 300ly away. Sent to prison for a 600cr fine by the same people who paid me a lot more than that in bounty vouchers for destroying their enemies.
It's st, it makes no sense, I'm out.

That's a shame, where on earth were you that an interstellar factor was so far away? It's st, it makes no sense, I'm out.
I haven't had a missing target bug in a while, unfortunate that there's still the odd one about.
I took on several massacre the opposition missions only for all the missions in the system to suddenly vanish. Maybe peace broke out but when the mission time expired I was reduced from a staunch ally to something like merely tolerable but only when they pinch their noses...
I was a bit miffed I have to say.

Finally made my way to the Coalsack.
I love the quiet moment of reflection as the Interceptors jump in. Sitting in total darkness waiting on your systems to reboot - reconsidering life choices, and realising I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
I haven't managed to take anything other than a few Scouts out yet, but I've knocked a few hearts off an Interceptor - although on the plus side, I haven't died yet - internal dignity not withstanding.
Second encounter pictured, think this is either a Cylops, or a Basilisk - not entirely sure. Was very nearly an expensive screenshot!
Definitely good fun though!
