I just popped back on to Far Cry 3 tonight, mainly to benchmark my new graphics card and monitor (41 fps at 2560 x 1440 with everything at max. I'll have that, thanks).
Coincidentally, so did I - last night. (Gigabyte 770GTX OC, BTW)

Just a thought but would any of you PC warriors be interested in a PH co-op team night?
Do the whole co-op story from start to finish on one level set by general consensus?

Having just replayed this for the second time (chose the 'good' ending this time) I've since been completing all side tasks and clearing all the loot chests etc. Does anyone know if/how you can get back into Hoyt's compound/office after the main game is over? There are loot chests in there and they are the only two left showing on my map mad

I don't think so. I think the only time his offices are accessible is during that part of the story line. You can still access the compound, but can't seem to access his building.

I am starting it again myself. I downloaded the schwartz mod (or whatever it is called) and I'm not sure if it is actually running with it or not. Does anyone know how to tell if it is?

That's a good mod. I used it on my 2nd playthrough. You should be able to tell pretty quickly as things like bear skins and tiger skins are worth proper money. Also the first time you visit a shop you should find that all weapons are unlocked but you have to pay for them. Also the wingsuit is immediately available so you should be able to test it with that too.

OK, ta. I have it on the highest difficulty setting so I wasn't sure what was the give away. Playing on the PC with an xbox controller currently. The game holds up pretty well with max settings.

My new Toshiba laptop with its 2gb Nvida Geforce 740M can just about handle this game with everything on max. I've played it for about an hour and really enjoyed it so far. Need to get the courage to stop playing GTA Online and do something else for a change.

FC3 was my GOTY for 2012. Can't wait for FC4.

Whilst I would absolutely love Far Cry 4 to be released this year (and in 6 weeks no less) I cant see this being true....

Not sure what the date would be for though? Probably a trailer / demo or something?

Rumours are Far Cry 4 will be set in the Himilayas biggrin

Tha gamingbolt article is like an Autocar scoop; a load of supposition based on almost no facts at all. It also bases itself on the premise that FC2 was a success and ignores FC1.

I would love if it were set there. Wingsuit reasons mostly.

I was quite sure that FC2 was a great game but I hated the respawning checkpoints. FC3 for me was perfect.

I am not sure I'd change anything about it now. Maybe the tagging system with the camera was a bit naff.

Would any of you guys change anything?

Not many, but id like to see a few things done differently.

I thought parts of the story line could do with being less bizzare.

I like the fact you can reset most checkpoints in one of the updates, so id like to see some check points remain permanently safe but others getting reset after time. You could then either wait for them to be taken over and re-take them or join the battle halfway through.

id like to see some bullet drop with the sniper rifles to make them less point and click.

Driving could be better.

Thats about it really, i think Far Cry 3 is one of those rare titles that got an awful lot right.

I'd like to be able to attached a lot of timed explosives to a vehicle, drive it into an outpost and have to jump out and run before it blows.

Indeed. I thought the Buck missions were rather lame and somewhat tedious and predictable at times. For example, several times I found myself thinking "I'd better loot all these chests before pulling this lever / clicking this button, because the place will probably start falling down when I do". And, sure enough, it did.

I'd also like them to make their mind up over whether it is a checkpoint-based game or a save-based game. Having both just seemed bizarre. Also the checkpoints were too far apart in the missions, which means you can't just dip into the game as you're pretty much committed to a long gaming session when in a mission, as if you exit you will go back too far. I could level the same accusation at Borderlands2.
Personally I'd prefer to just drop the whole idea of checkpoints and allow straight saving. But I know that some people will disagree on that.

Oh, and the other thing I'd change is to have more variation on faces. It feels the islanders are all clones.

I always found the tagging really usefull to be honest. I really enjoyed the game (like FC2), in fact it's probably the most 'complete' game I've ever played, however there were let downs. The side missions/path of the hunter quests were fairly repetitive after a while, money was FAR to easy to come across in the game and you hardly ever had to revisit locations after you had completed a mission. But the positives far outwiegh the negatives.

What I would really, REALLY like is for a 'survivor' mode option - limited ability to skill up, limited weapon and ammo availability. The first third of the game was the best for me because you're out of your depth/out numbered. By the time you're at the second island you're a walking tank and most outposts could be cleared (relatively) easily.
