the only bit i didnt like about fc3 was the boss levels, they were so disjointed and contrived compared to everything else.. I believe they were written by a separate team to the main program.

yeah forget checkpoints and just let you save

Bit of a bump - apologies - but for those that don't have the game it is available as a steam special for just under £4 at the mo.
Incredible price for this game - if you haven't got it - now's a good time!!

Indeed. yes

Ironically, Blood Dragon costs more.

Just bought the xbox 360 complete set which includes, far cry 2 and 3 and the downloads of the other versions too.

Enjoying far cry 3 so far, but the lack of option to save at certain points bugs me!

Also what's the best way to get lots of superior guns and fire power? I seem limited as I can't carry lots despite upgrading my wallet and weapons carrying?

Thanks for some tips to make it not so tedious!

Spend 3 hours both unlocking radio towers and hunting the right animals. Obviously both go hand in hand.

When you have the animals craft enough weapons slings to carry four weapons and upgrade other holsters/slings to the 'third level' ie - the one before you need 'special' animals.

Having done sufficient towers you should then be able to equip sufficient weapons at no cost to keep you happy. I use the bow, some form of assualt rifle, a sniper rifle and grenade launcher.

That all makes me immensely strong - though my favourite tool is the bow funnily enough. Use any cash left to buy scopes etc for the weapons.
Oh - and don't forget to use your skill points!

Thanks excellent feedback, I thought that those upgrades might be key to moving on!

Will try it at the end of the week when I am back from a few days away for work.

Cheers again.,

For me Far Cry 3 was the most overrated game I've played in many years.

Just can't understand why it was rated so highly. Yes I completed it and found it reasonably entertaining in the main, but so flawed. 9s and 10s out of 10? Nah. A solid 7, maybe 8 at a push.

What was flawed about it?

Mainly the mechanics of the game.

It’s a big island but actually it’s quite empty - there’s not that much to do outside of the main quests.

There are loot chests and collectables scattered all over the island. Every single one is marked on your map. What’s the point of that? Why should I bother to go and find any of them?

The loot chests themselves normally give you two things – a bit of cash and some random piece of junk. The only thing you can use the random junk for is to sell for a bit more cash. What’s the point of that? I never even needed money anyway, all the guns were given to me just for climbing the towers. Pointless.

I gave up doing the Path of the Hunter/Rakyat trials/assassination or whatever they were called, they were all basically the same. Pointless.

I don’t think I ever used any of the drug crafting, other than a couple of vials of health potion. Never had any need for them. Pointless.

Despite not bothering with most of the side challenges I was basically maxed out on XP/skills before I got anywhere near the end of the game, which was actually a bit pointless because half the skills I never even saw an opportunity to use, let alone actually do so. E.g double ledge kill from below. Yes, I was looking for/trying to engineer a chance to use it. Pointless.

The combat/gunplay wasn’t that much fun. Enemies were erratic and on occasion displayed very poor AI. Accidentally touch an allied vehicle while driving along? Oh well, the occupants and anyone else within range is now your sworn enemy and you’ll have to kill them all before they kill you.

Also the narrative was laughable, the 2D characters pathetic. The enemies repeat the same half dozen idiotic phrases over and over and over.

I just found it all a bit tedious.

I played on hard difficulty btw.

Hopefully FC4 will be tailored for heros like you rather than actually being fun.

Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, I can't really disagree with you on any of that. The loot chests I can particularly agree on, as the game I played before Far Cry 3 was Skyrim, and the latter is definitely miles ahead on 'flavour' and atmosphere.
Another thing that really irritated me was the quests to find dead Japanese soldiers from the war. Some were outside next to refuse sacks, as if we are to believe that they have been there for 60 years undisturbed (including by the whoever put the refuse sacks there).

However, I still managed to clock up 280 hours on it. paperbag

I had a car project stall on the weekend so as it was raining decided to boot up the ol' PC for some gaming.

Never really got into Blood Dragon but was able to put a few hours into FC3. Really looking forward to FC4. Although my gaming PC is not yet a year old I'll probably upgrade the graphics card for it.

I just hope that the consoles don't hold it back.

They didn't for FC3, so I don't see why they would for FC4.

Hopefully they wont. Even if they use the same engine I will be happy. FC3 was just so much of a laugh most of the time - serious games get boring quick. FC2 was interminable.
