Euro Truck Simulator 2
Discussion
Maybe expected too much but bit disappointed with the first ferry crossing. Expected to face some close quarter manoeuvres but nothing.
I also play Ship Simulator Extremes and , whilst it gets a slagging from typical gamers, the close quarter stuff, docking, towing and pilotage of very large ships in narrow spaces is the best bit

I went Harwich Hoek and back to Hull last night. Both just rolled onto a green marker at port entrance press enter pick route immediately dumped off at other end.
Incidentally leaving Hull for Sheffield the mapping of the road up to Humber bridge was quite good but the M62 seems to have been replaced by some winding A road over the Wolds which drops you into East end ish of Sheffield. Odd

I could have sworn that the first ferry crossing I did, I had to drive onto the boat, but never again since that first time. Maybe I was dreaming. Or pissed.

Never driven onto a boat. Just park up and watch the loading screen...
You do drive and park on the shuttle though. That was quite tight. Only done it once though, everything seems to take me via a port now rather than the train
It's only Dover-Calais where you drive onto the boat. No idea why.You do drive and park on the shuttle though. That was quite tight. Only done it once though, everything seems to take me via a port now rather than the train
If loading from the CD, update to 1.31 before you start, else it resets your game!
Controls:
i use one of these, a logitech PS3 force GT wheel (£89), with a mouse to look around in the mirror.
it take a bit of coordination to look round corners with one hand and steer with the other, whilst using the paddles to change gear!
the steering is sensitive on the lowest setting, not the 10 turns lock to lock you'd expect (more like 1/2 at turn)
think argos are the cheapest at the mo

Only use the arrow keys, getting quite used to them now.
Have on a couple of occasions had a bad crash in my own truck 15%+ damage, so just close the game via task manager and it normally loads me 20-50km back from where I crashed.
Also find picking a job, then saving the game and exiting, then restarting gets rid of any lag/jerky drives if anyone else has the same problems.

Anyone know if there's a difference between the Euro 5 & 6 lumps on Scanias? Just upgraded mine to a 440 and went for the Euro 5 as it was cheaper.
I was thinking about trying some of the map mods but I'm worried about the new locations messing up my save, hopefully they'll add something in the official updates at some point, the rest of the incomplete countries plus Spain etc. would be great.

Out of interest what mods are people running? There seem to be a few that really look to enhance the game.
I'm using the real companies and AI trailers mods from here, Real Headlights (much better during the night) and reskins for the tractors/plant etc. to the real life counterparts. What are people spending their skill points on?
I've put a few each on long distance, high value and fragile, some of the ADRs and just in time for the xp bonuses. I've ignored eco so far, although I've let my drivers build up a couple.Busterhighmen said:

Boo, suck up the costs! It's half the fun Have on a couple of occasions had a bad crash in my own truck 15%+ damage, so just close the game via task manager and it normally loads me 20-50km back from where I crashed.

I seem to have two limiter removal things installed and neither work! Which ones are people using and are you all on version 1.3.1? Am wondering if they are not working due to the update.
As for controls, an Xbox 360 pad works really well when set up if you don't fancy a wheel.Fair play to those using the keyboard though.I haven't done that since the very first Spectrum lol.

I can't seem to get mods working - I place them in the mod folder and then I believe I'm supposed to choose them in my profile - but they don't appear Cledus Snow said:
When the game starts and you get to the profile screen. it gives you the options of New, Continue, Edit and Delete. Click Edit and on the right you'll see a list of your mods in the Mod folder. Tick the ones you want to use and then click apply.
Yeah that's what I thought.. nothing in the list. Will retry!Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
