Euro Truck Simulator 2
Discussion
I finished the demo last night with a marathon run from Germany to Carlisle.
Got a bit of a shock when I cam across a roundabout right outside the UK port, hadn't had to negotiate one on the continent, and it wasn't simple in a gutless LHD MAN.
I now need to upgrade the PC and get the full version.

Argh! Applied the patch to bring it to 1.3.1(?) and I got a strange request to re-authenticate with the product key. Once done it had lost my savegames and replaced them with my 'demo' savegames.
- Previously played the demo via Steam with one profile/save game
- Installed the full game from DVD (outside of steam) and started playing with a new profile/save game
- Installed the patch
- Lost my 'full game' save

I had this, the save's not lost, fear not!- Previously played the demo via Steam with one profile/save game

I cannot remember exactly where you will find this, but it should be self-explanatory when you find the relevant folder/file. Look in C:\Users\"Your user name"\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\ I am pretty certain in there you will find two profiles, and if not go to the next file of "save". One will be your demo game, one will be your current game - suss it out by the date modified. Delete the demo (or copy and paste elsewhere if you're not sure. In my case it was the older file), then reboot the game - it should revert you back to your proper game.

Under Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2, I have
- profile
- profiles
- profiles(1.3.1).bak
I can't determine (despite experimenting) what I need to change. I think it's the 'profiles' one based on time stamps but when I replace 'profiles' with the 'profiles(1.3.1).bak' it still gives me the demo profile.
Any thoughts, I can't seem to find any web resources that give me an answer.

I think you should make copies of all 3 folders, then delete profile and profiles.bak, and try each content in turn into the folder you have left.
We must have all thought this, but just how feasible is 'buying your own truck + garage and starting trucking?'. I imagine it's no way near as profitable as in the game but I'm curious as to how the one-man band and small business haulage firms compete against the likes of Stobart et al.

At a guess, the small companies mostly do local stuff, and better connected "one-man bands" haven't got much to keep them at home... If I was single with no ties to where I live, I'd happily drive a truck around Europe, but I'm guessing if you want to get back home regularly, it's a lot more difficult to find suitable work...The rates we used to pay for standard curtain sider loads or 40ft box work round Europe knowing fuel cost and consumption I have no clue how they made a profit.
Loads which needed specialist equipment cost a fortune but they are less common obviously.
On a side note has anyone found themselves glancing towards the trucker mags in Smiths yet?
