I like the game, it's fairly nice to look at and the dialogue is generally pretty good. I have a problem with the lack of immersion 3rd person perspective provides - the animation never looks terrific and this does spoil it for me. 1st person would be fabulous.

It's still my favourite game of all time, right up there with Journey, original Tomb Raider, FF7 and Outrun.

Very excited for the Netflix series, they better not screw up the casting (still no news yet).

Does it get better again at any point after you get to Skellige?

I played for hours and hours, doing every side quest in Velen (or whatever the land before Skellige is) etc.. that I could find and enjoying it immensely, crafting weapons and whatnot, having a blast, then I finally ran out of stuff to do and had to get the boat to Skellige , only to find quite a smallish boring set of little islands, vast oceans and huge cliffs that make trying to get anywhere frustrating as heck, no new creatures or weapons etc... so I've pretty much stopped playing it.

Is it just a boring bit I need to play through to get to something good beyond? Or is that pretty much the end area of the game and that's it?

Skellige doesn't last that long. but there's the DLC too which are both worth playing.

Skellige is a warring clans plotline, it's worth working through.

The DLC are incredible, especially blood and wine.

Is there anyway of getting hold of B&W and HoS without paying more than I did for the original game?

Thought I bought the GOTY edition last year but apparently not. It's £20 for the expansion pass which I think includes both DLC's but I only paid £17.99 for the game in the first place. I know it's only £20 but it's enough to make me think twice rather than just buy it.

This is on PS4 store for £12. Worth a buy?

I'm biased but 12 quid for the sheer depth and quality of work that went into this game is nothing short of criminal. It starts a slwo burn and you have to learn the fighting and level a bit, but once you're in, it's a film.

A bargain. I’m playing it in the PC though.

I bought this on Steam, as a complete package, in that everything, all add ons, DLC etc. is included.

I did try to get into it on PS4, after loving both Horizon: Zero Dawn and AC: Origins (which I adore), but found the character quite 'clunky' to control in comparison, especially the fighting.

I keep seeing rave reviews for this, so I am wondering, is it worth me spending a few more hours on this, just to try and get used to the mechanics?

I finally caved in and bought it. PC GOTY edition from CD Keys for a princely £17.99 smile

Looking forward to seeing how it compares to Skyrim which I was thoroughly addicted to!

It’s £15.99 for the game of the year edition with all the DLC.

So it’s cheaper for me to buy GOTY on the PC than it is to just buy the DLC?

It’s not like I need two copies of the bloody game.

Bump Bump

Just got the GoTY edition delivered for £15. Been on my radar years but with nothing really to play, decided to buy it.

Only level 5 at the moment and trying to invest points wisely, seen a few signs im going to plow points into.

I did rent it a few years back but didn't get on with it, much better now im taking my time, no rushing and doing EVERYTHING! biggrin

I found that the movement and combat never stopped being awkward (especially fighting things which fly or going underwater).
Still probably the best game I've ever played.

The first 10 hours or so almost made me give up on the game. Well worth carrying on though.
