For me, no. Nondescript enemies, nondescript locations and nondescript gear leaves me a little bit cold. I admit to not giving it much of a chance, but by Saturday I felt like I was forcing myself to play to see if it clicked.......it didn't. The gameplay's pretty solid and the formula is one that we all like, but I suppose the amount of content available in the game proper will dictate whether it's worth it.
I quite like PvP. It seemed quite tactical, and I do think there's fun to be had in a group deciding when to play pirate or good guy. I don't see much appeal in playing solo though.
The one thing Destiny does well for me is the sense of ownership. I know everyone had the same characters, with the same gear, but it always feel like I'M playing as MY character, whereas other games I always just feel like any other in game character.
I'm not sold on the strength of the beta, nor am I completely against.

It's a different game than destiny completely, I just found myself patrolling around and scavenging which I enjoyed. I had a good session in the dark zone on my own earlier and only a few rogue groups were pissing about. I can't wait for it to come out now. Although I noticed that I could only call an extraction in one place but on Friday you could call it anywhere, has there been a change?
I think extraction is at designated areas only... but those areas (in orange) can be quite large. You don't need to be precisely on the H of the helipad.
This doesn't have the character of Destiny (and nobody does gunplay better than Bungie) but it is a very, very good game. There are bugs (like being stuck on stairs ), it isn't much fun solo and I think that the map can be sparse at times but otherwise, it looks gorgeous, the customization of weapons is impressive and dynamics for loot drops is incredible.
It is also fascinating to see the changing dynamic ofbeing an ass going rogue and stealing people's loot. It started with just killing people and then hoping that you'd get away with it. Pretty soon, players realized that going rogue wasn't worth the risk unless a guarantee of success (as for those that haven't played- going rogue means you get marked, can be seen on the map by all players and death means a loss of a lot of EXP and currency). This prompted a change in strategy from us... befriend people with an emote and head to the extraction point as the timer is heading down. Perfect theft here:-

Last night, I saw even more complicated play. I was on a roof and looked down to see 2 squads of 4 clearly working together to lure other players into a PvE area of the darkzone. They'd either finish the job of the level 9 ads and collect the loot or turn on the unsuspecting and then protect the other squad.
The risk/reward aspect is great and something I've not seen before.

Great fun is shooting someone a few times in the dark zone and then wait until they shoot you back a few too many times (they then go rogue!), then finish them lots of XP & money for a reward!
As a rogue player you really do get hounded all around the map, the above happened to me and I managed to kill them, unfortunately that meant I was rogue, I was chased for a good 15-20 mins before being 'dealt with'.
I think it misses out on some of the destiny metrics, although the modifications will add a bit more of an angle for looting (like the rolls in destiny, but a lot more functional!)
I do see it being very boring on higher level enemies, there seems to be a massive amounts of bullets vs standard enemy a level or two above you, destiny wise its not quite like that.
I will be pre-ordering on Xbox one this week as I am starting to find destiny a little tedious getting to 320 light/completing the hard raid

They'll most likely tweak the "going rogue" consequences but I think it is pretty much perfect as is. They are fairly dire at present- I lost over 900 EXP in one death. Also, there appears to be squads of "rogue agent hunters" only. They come running as soon as the red outline appears.
It was inevitable that people would pounce on the new dynamic of stealing stuff when it was/is shiny and new. I'm fairly sure it will die down though.
I hear that the end game content is 24 man squads or rather, 6 x 4 teams in some mass PvE event.
Here's a decent summary from a committed Destiny player. Sums it up very well, IMHO:-

While the PvE sounds quite interesting I can't help but be a little disappointed by the PvP aspect. While the premise is interesting it's not true PvP and I'm sorely lacking some decent PvP to sink my teeth into after SW Battlefront turned out to be as shallow as a toddlers paddling pool.
Well.
Decided to play good cops yesterday and just hunt rogue agents. There was a particularly nasty squad across the road, on the roof, from the roof-top extraction just killing people to be assholes i.e. no loot theft. Well, we weren't going to have that! CUE the music... Bad Boys, Bad Boys, watcha gonna do...

Had to glitch out to get to the flank and I also spent a long time in cover at the top whilst I waited for back-up. After that, and 3 v 4, job-jobbed.
