New PC racing sim - Assetto Corsa

The little single seater looks great Gary but not so keen on how it drives, I think it's the lack of gears (and sound). Have you released your Ferrari yet?
Yeah its very different from anything else, having 4 electric motors, in a game that has physics not entirely designed for 4 electric motors! Very little weight, huge (inefficient) aero and super sticky tyres, its quite a focused and limited vehicle - doesn't really work well on normal tracks, kart tracks are where you really see it in its element.Ferrari - which one!? The race car is released (racesimstudio.com), though I haven't been working on the Maranello in a while, with many other projects taking priority. I look forward to completing it as soon as i can.
Assetto corsa is on sale. For ps4 I think you can get the game for just over a tenner, the car packs are a couple quid (I just picked up the ferrari pack and ready to race, even tho there aren't really any cars of interest for me in the latter). Season pass includes 3 porsche packs and maybe some other stuff and that's less than a tenner.
If you have a wheel and a ps4, this game is definitely worth having.
(I also picked up dirt rally in the sale but I can't get on with that at all. Doesn't help that I suck at rallying tho)

What do you not do well? I am better at rally games because you don't need the precision you require for track work when you don't have a decent wheel!
I can't react to the co driver signals very well and struggle to string more than a few corners together especially with all the don't cut, keep left type stuff that means you aren't taking the most natural line. It's all too much for my little brain to process - at least circuits you can memorise rather than just reacting. I also find the tracks really narrow and either hit the wall or fall down the cliff. Its maybe cos I'm not looking far enough down the road. Even so, I find dirt rally very unforgiving

Try the route several times and you will get it and be able to remember the lines anyway. It's a bit like Nordschleife.

DiRT could definitely do with an option to minimise the co-driver babble, I try to tune out of the words to some extent and just take in the numbers but it's easy to get distracted. You should be turning off the numbers.
Next you'll be saying you play Assetto Corsa in chase car mode with a keyboard.

ETA: if you mean visual cues I agree, I'm talking about which parts of the co-driver commentary to concentrate on.

Dirt rally is too tough and unforgiving in my opinion
See I found the difficulty a real part of the enjoyment as it made it so rewarding to do well, it felt like an actual achievement.I was fortunate to have some time to put in to the game though to practice though. I know if I fired it up tonight and had a go at it I'd be awful

Is it tough because the physics are realistic?
The physics are reasonably realistic yes, and the difficulty then comes from the excellent stage design (fast, realistically narrow, big and unforgiving drops / rocks / trees off track). Each stage requires sustained concentration to keep driving off the co-driver's instructions (there are enough stages and I played it infrequently enough that I never memorised any of them)

I am tempted to get Richard Burns Rally for my PS2 (it has the wheel at the moment) because of the realism.
Having a little break from GT Sport and remember I picked up Asetto cheap a few months ago but haven't really played more than 10 minutes, found it a little hard to get hold of especially with GT Sport taking my attention.
I'm a DS4 user but have sorted the steering settings with the help of Google, it's pretty hard to keep the car on the track but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.
My only really question is that I can't really see much longevity in it? Is it just endless hoplapping and giving myself a high five when I don't bin it round clear ways?

The challenge is in learning how to drive properly rather than playing a simcade.
And then racing others online.
