A side-effect of playing AC with a cheap wheel - the pedals are quite firm whilst the small pedal unit is light.

One foot holding down the unit, the other foot hitting gas or brake for an hour = pumped calves. silly

"Assetto Corsa Competizione is the new official Blancpain GT Series videogame.
Thanks to the extraordinary quality of simulation, the game will allow you to experience the real atmosphere of the FIA GT3 homologated championship, competing against official drivers, teams, cars and circuits, reproduced in-game with the highest level of accuracy ever achieved.
Sprint, Endurance and Spa 24 Hours races will come to life with an incredible level of realism, in both single and multiplayer modes.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is born from KUNOS Simulazioni's long-term experience, and it takes full advantage of Unreal Engine 4 to ensure photorealistic weather conditions and graphics, night races, motion capture animations, reaching a new standard in terms of driving realism and immersion, thanks to its further improved tyre and aerodynamic models."

I hope they polish this one off a bit better, AC has always seemed a bit rough around the edges.

Weather will be novel though, I mean.... who races in the wet?! tongue out

I hope the lights actually work, too.

Unreal engine, GTR3 was being worked on for that, maybe Kunos has stolen the licence and run with the same technology.

Screenshot on here of GTR3 in Unreal engine, lights working - https://www.engadget.com/2017/02/02/gtr3-announcem...
Raceroom uses Unreal engine 4 too. Anyone use it?

I use RaceRoom - better physics & FFB than AC but harder to dial in.

Dunno why they found it so difficult - RR3 on my phone had working headlights (until I crashed into something at T1).

iirc the engine just couldn't do it, it was limited to a single light source or something like that.

Ah, I see! (Which is ironic.)

Sounds interesting. I don't give a crap about atmosphere (i don't need to pretend that I'm any kind of racing driver) but I do enjoy diving these types of cars in GTS and AC. But I don't think blancpain goes to nordschleife? In any case not coming to console so I don't need to worry! smile

Edit: Update 1.19 is apparently out for ps4 now. 1.17 brought some more cars and Laguna Seca for free but also some bugs. They quickly brought out patch with 1.18 but didn't fix some of the crashes. Now with todays announcement i wouldn't be surprised if that's the end of development on AC. (& still no leaderboards frown )

They laser mapped a load of tracks, nords being one. They'd be insane not to reuse the the same data imo. the textures are probably good enough for the unreal engine so I'd hope they port it across.

I don't think Blancpain would want to pay for a circuit they don't use.

Surely they won't restrict the new game to just the Blancpain series? People will want to play something other than GT3 if they have to buy a new game.

I guess that depends on how successful other 1 series games have been eg WRC and rivals. F1 and the billion different versions? Le Mans on PS2?

It's the official game of the Blancpain GT series so the cars on the Blancpain racing schedule, so GT cars and maybe support categories only on the tracks the series use. It's not an Assetto to Corsa 2.

Interesting. With the support races that would make it better. A quick google suggest Renault and Lamborghini race series also take place.

Update 1.20 out for PS4 - apparently fixes a few more of the issues. So the team have not completely given up on AC console release

Played last night for the first time in a while and decided, for no particular reason, to stream it on Twitch and mess about.

Behold the worst driving ever! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/246980914

First seven minutes is pissing about in a 911R, just trying to get back into the swing of things with some slidey fun. At the 7min mark I change to a 1,500bhp GTR, which did not go well. At 11mins I changed to the 1,450bhp Agera with... predictable results.

(this is very embarrassing)

I got hold of Assetto Corsa Competizione last night and had a few races.

It might be a singly focused title but it does it bloody well.

It's fantastic!
