New PC racing sim - Assetto Corsa
Discussion
They've clarified the matchmaking situation. The lack of scheduled races etc will be an issue for those looking for multiplayer but if DIY developers get among it and build add ons like SRS then it will significantly add to the appeal. I was making headway on SRS races with fixed settings but the open setting races require a fair amount of commitment to tuning setups which is where sim racing goes to that next level.
I think this is where no-one has really found a good blend of accessibility vs quality. GT Sport is relatively accessible but then there's no real depth to the online racing.
As a side-note only having games on steam irks a bit, as there doesn't seem to be a way of selling games second hand.

Not sure I agree with the lack of depth part, if you go by daily players and availability of races then I'd say it's pretty good. It does seem a bit odd that in a game that looks as good as ACC with all it's racing connections, that they choose to ignore the esport side of the game, maybe it'll come at a later date..
Everything version is only £15.22 - https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/6998/Assetto...

I took delivery of a Fanatec CSW V2.5 wheel base yesterday along with the GT3 and BMW rims I picked up used last week.
I also got the CSL LC Pedals at the end of March.
Wow!
I had a G27.
From what I've seen the biggest influence is the braking where you can actually get some "feel". Even with mods the standard, non-loadcell, brakes are really counter intuitive and take a bit of getting accustomed to. I'm hoping CSL etc will get a bit cheaper as more people start playing.I also got the CSL LC Pedals at the end of March.

GT Sport weekly races tend to be two short races and one longer one with ridiculously artificial tyre wear and fuel usage. Even the longer race will only be 15-20 mins. The FIA events also follow a similar format to the latter. There's nothing along the lines of an hour plus races, damage, weather etc. And the lack of tracks is just weird now - with AC et al you can be doing hour long races at Spa. However, for the asking price the value and accessibility in GT is hard to argue against.
Sorry for the slight tangent, but I wonder if anyone can help me? I am trying to track down a Jaguar XJ13 mod for Assetto Corsa. This one looked promising, but it seems that the creator flounced off in a huff and removed it - https://acmods.net/cars/jaguar-xj13/
Does anyone know where I might find it elsewhere (or have a copy themselves stashed away?). Any pointers gratefully received. It's such an amazing looking machine - I'd love to have a 'go' in it!

That's a lot of game for that money.I found a way around it last night and got it installed – bit of a ballache actually.
Because I had the vanilla game, I didn’t have the option to purchase the ultimate edition. What I did in the end was back up my career from c://Users/Speckle/documents/Assetto Corsa/launcherdata/filestore.
Then I had to permanently remove the game from steam (although, it keeps it in your library in case you want to re-purchase it, or something!) So, I had to browse to steam via a web browser and I could then purchase it from there (presumably because the browser version doesn't know what is in my library). After that, it installed no problem. Put my career files back in the folder and it all works a treat.
Bit long winded but, well worth it for all the DLC content for £13 I thought
