Whiplash is just the basic level 1, right up to ruptured organs and an inbuilt flamethrower!!
How about a carjacking when you're in the pit in a South African race circuit?

The escort RS is a fantastic car for a little oversteer fun (mated to a cracking engine)
Oh yeah. The Escort and the Alfa GTA are my go to cars for a bit of delightful oversteer and all round goodness.

Going flat out down the main straight, a taxi will overtake you, pull right in front of you and stop as hard as it can, then while you're stuck behind it waiting for 28 passengers to get out, someone steals all your wheels.

LA Canyons 1.2 is out!

https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/la-canyon...

Haven’t had chance to play yet but looks massively improved over the last one.

I had a quick go on this last night, it really is rather epic! Cruising along a deserted canyon road in a LaFerrari at dusk was brilliant fun! I'm going to set up a practice session with as many AI as my PC can handle tonight to see if I can give it a more 'populated' feeling.

I haven't got VIP access (yet!) so, haven't tried out the 2 way traffic mode but, it is only a few quid so will most likely pick it up at some point.

Is there a good source of downloadable car setups for AC available somewhere?

I'd like to make the Mk1 MX5 handle more like my real ones did, but the alignment adjustments in-game were quite counter-intuitive and didn't seem to have the expected effect. So I stopped trying to replicate my real-world alignment spec and have just been using standard setups.

My real MX5s were the most playful, balanced and easily adjustable things I've ever driven, the one in AC seems to have a lot of understeer combined with almost uncatchable snap oversteer. Not sure if its just alignment but worth trying.

Been enjoying some mod tracks - LA Canyons and a Corsica rally stage are cool, but my most played one is Bathurst. Not forgiving of mistakes, but very satisfying.

I also tried a Monte Carlo rally stage mod... it looked like snow and made slushy sounds, and braking distances were increased... but you could give it full throttle in 1st and 2nd gear with barely a hint of wheelspin, so I don't think they have achieved their goal with that one.

Question to all here but are there any track mods available for the PS4 or is it just for the PC?

I love the real roads they've created and would love to have a go on some of them.

Many thanks. VP.

Sadly no track or car mods available on PS4, only those that come in the official packs

FYI Bathurst is an official track in Assetto Corsa Competizione now. - The 12hr GT race modelled with night and day - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWres4SErHI

Well I think I've found part of my issue with the street tyres... the default pressures are far too low (or the tyre model doesn't behave realistically at those pressures, however you want to look at it), bumping them up 4-5psi makes a world of difference to predictability.

Made a bit more sense of the alignment too, by ignoring the numbers on the 'alignment' tab and going by the numbers on the 'car status' tab instead. Adjustment is still a bit odd, because a negative adjustment on the alignment tab sometimes makes a positive adjustment on the car status instead of a negative one.

Mk1 MX5 still handles nothing like a real one though, I don't know how they got it so wrong.

Yeah i don't know why they've done it like that. You have to adjust arbitrary numbers to then see what effect that has on the real numbers, and hope it has the required range / resolution.

Im guessing you are trying to match your game geo to your real life geo?

Played quite heavily this weekend, I’m loving the VIP LA Canyons.

I’ve also only just starting using content manager and by god is it easy!

Currently enjoying track day sessions with the AI in all manner of sports/super cars. Such a great game that keeps finding ways to keep me interested.

Yes, my initial idea was to recreate my real world geo - that was very twitchy in-game so I adjusted it further with extra negative camber, and had to add quite a bit more rear toe-in for stability.

I've been trying to figure out what the game is doing physics-wise to have such odd handling, it may be programmed better for stiff race cars and exaggerating weight transfer and/or tyre flex effects to an unrealistic degree on softer road cars (which is a pity, because I'm more interested in them than the race cars).

When you slide the game Mk1 it often seems to either roll into an over-rotation that is practically uncatchable even with full opposite lock and regardless of what you do with the throttle once it goes, or will start to slide then suddenly bite and spin the other way in the blink of an eye (with the severity of the snap barely even related to steering angle or throttle position). With a very narrow window of controllability in between those extremes. Sorry to rabbit on about it, its just frustrating really when I know how a real one drives!

I'm guessing you can only change the geometry in the game? Things like tyres, ARB's, spring and damper rates etc are fixed?
I have an mx5 too but to be honest never tried driving it in the game as i expect it'll be a bit too slow to be fun for me

For the MX5 I think the only adjustables in the game are camber and toe (not even adjustable caster like a real one). And tyre type/pressure of course.

You should try it. It is slow but it's fun to drive just like a real one is.
