New PC racing sim - Assetto Corsa
Discussion
Right.
I am an avid Assetto corsa fan... pretty much all i play now.
Mods wise, its insane. Not saying all are perfect far from it, but there is so much out there and once you learn some stuff you can create your own stuff, engine swaps, new skins, swapping suspensions over, tires swapped, whole physics swapped...
Here is some cool stuff i have as mods...

Nice live stream of GT racing on ACC. Makes the F1 game race stream look like a bit of a joke

Probably something already known by some, Sol weather mod, using the shader and lights package - https://youtu.be/fw-3rGLddHE?t=211
Doing what Kunos said couldn't be done, 24hr day and night cycle. - https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/sol.24914...
Brake disc Fx - dynamic wear, lighting and heating, shadows, reflections, rear of car shown in mirrors plus a lot more.
Le Mans day/night cycle at Le Mans - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt0PjbyDWCk

Since I am coming back to this after a couple of years I am happy to see Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb is now available.

It's really well done. I've found pleasure in driving a Peugeot 106 Rallye at night, round some open maps. Mostly an italian lake one that I can't remember the name of. Doing what Kunos said couldn't be done, 24hr day and night cycle. - https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/sol.24914...

In VR it's just amazing, turn off all the UI and it is just incredible, really good mod too the 106, dashboard, gauge colour etc is all really detailed and it's super fun.
So there's a DLC for a GT3 Fiat Multipla . It may be a Multipla body on a Ferrari GT3 car in the game, but still, Multipla GT3!
I sort of want one . I know Peugeot made an 806 Procar for a Spa 24hr race which was close enough to Supertouring BTCC regs. Are there any other inappropriate cars in DLC?

Hi,
For those on a budget what's a good GPU to run Assetto on a 1080p triple screen setup? I have an ancient i7 2600K CPU and not interest in all the RTX stuff which I know that Assetto won't support. As long as it's fast and slick and looks good enought to give the impression of imersion then I would be happy.
Not a fan of GT3 (prefering the open cockpit stuff) so not going for ACC.
Currently on a dual 560TI SLI setup but it's struggling and it's recently gone to displaying only 2 screens in AC but works triples okay in other games (original Automobalista).
Looked at the GTX 1065, GTX 2060 and even the RTX 2070 (that one is more that I really want to spend).
Longer term would be a CPU upgrade but looking to get best bang for the buck until the 3000 series GPUs are launched and Automobalista 2 has progressed a bit more. Struggling to spend over £500 on a GPU given the system will have a natural bottleneck.
Thanks in advance.

Many thanks - so no need for a 2070? People talking about 2070 for 4K gaming but I guess that's for different type of game?
I have mildly over-clocked my RTX 2060 Super and really it's just as good as a 2070. Plus it has the 8GB VRAM the 2060 only has 6GB.Just finished a Le Mans race on AC with a big grid, I run at 1440p all in-game graphics settings maxxed, no stutters always over 100FPS. Odd time to buy now though, my card is now over £100 more than I paid for it in Feb at the same retailer.
Ps. Some games I have been using over 7GB of VRAM, so a 2060 with only 6GB wouldn't cut it for me. eg. Doom Eternal at 4k is 7.5GB - https://imgur.com/f1zkJEA

On triple screens?I'm looking to get back into sim-racing and suspect my DIY PC from 11 years ago is probably due an upgrade, so am speccing up a new PC with the intention of triple-screens somewhere down the line.
I keep seeing wildly differing data on it though. I'll need a new monitor first and then add a couple down the line if I get into it proper, but can't get a definitive answer on whether 1440x3 is viable for something like a 5700 XT.
Frustratingly true about the price of hardware though. It's a very bad time to buy my mid-life crisis PC.

nVidia 2060 or Radeon 5700 will be more than good enough for assetto corsa (and most modern games).
I run AC max everything at 4k and get 100fps in time trial mode.
Can run around 35 cars in a offline race and still get 60fps. Anything more and my CPU becomes a bottleneck (4690k).
I've just given my old PC away for free to a friend, and its NVidia 780Ti was easily playing Assetto Corsa and iRacing on maximum detail across three monitors (5760x1080), and would even run an Oculus Rift at a reasonable detail too. Driving sims tend to not be very demanding.I run AC max everything at 4k and get 100fps in time trial mode.

I've abandoned (temporarily) RF2 and stars hammering AC instead for a while.
I've downloaded a few 5-star reviewed cars and tracks from theracedepartment, is there anything in particular I should be getting?
I'm more of a hotlapper than a racer, so I've got RSR working, and I'm using the Content Manager.
