I've abandoned (temporarily) RF2 and stars hammering AC instead for a while.
I've downloaded a few 5-star reviewed cars and tracks from theracedepartment, is there anything in particular I should be getting?
I'm more of a hotlapper than a racer, so I've got RSR working, and I'm using the Content Manager.

I like the ASR, ACFL and VRC F1 cars, options at the top - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IWhrDNJcrw...
You can almost have a complete F1 1991 field with different cars or grab one (like the Jordan, but others too) and download the 1991 skin pack from Race Department for a full field.
F1 classic has some nice mods too for F1 1971, 1975, classic touring cars and GTs - https://f1classic.forumotion.com/f58-cars
Or get the Goodwood Hill Climb run and blast up it for best times.
Nice!
Content Manager it's overwhelming me at the minute. So many options for graphics packages/plugins/add-ons/shaders/etc.
Are there any I should be using/avoiding?
I've a mediocre pc, up z420 with slightly upgraded CPU, 32gb (might be 64) and a 6gb 1060 gfx card.
Only running a single 1080 TV, limiting frame rate to 70ish and it seems to cope well enough, but not tried a huge field of cars.

You have the custom shaders patch installed? - https://acstuff.ru/patch/Content Manager it's overwhelming me at the minute. So many options for graphics packages/plugins/add-ons/shaders/etc.

Sol (that will provide the night time, lights and rain weather - https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/sol.24914...
Start with those two, then in CM under Settings/Assetto Corsa/ look at the post processing section and select on of the Sol filters in the drop down, check other settings. If you make changes you can save them to a new preset. Make sure Sol config and weather is activated in the Apps section too, it will then appear in game at the top of the apps list and you can change weather in game as you like just like the filter.
If you go to Custom Shaders Patch section under General Patch settings there is also a save preset option for any changes you make to CSP. Read the Sol PDF for all the recommended changes to each section.
If you want to try a new filter, you can try it in game using the ppfilter app on the side bar.

If you want to see what custom shaders and Sol can do I have recorded a little bit of raw footage here, using Content manager to create the grid, all cars using unique skins, setting the time to 11pm. 1991 Le Mans, full grid of Group C cars, full night and lights. Thunderstorm conditions, so occasional lightning flash too.
And I've just seen this, Le Mans 1989 with the chicanes removed. - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/assetto-cor...

Are there any online lobbies (pc) that are full of first corner dheads? :sigh:
Oh and nords trackdays.... : confused:
Seems to be pretty hit or miss. I was in one that was GT86's round one of the smaller euro tracks (can't mind the name) and it was great, everyone behaving, apologising for shunts etc. Oh and nords trackdays.... : confused:
After that, Monza in GT3 cars. Nothing quite makes you feel sick like a public lobby in VR... Normal accidents at the first corner, managed to dodge. Then the long right hand leading to the left-right chicane, obviously got completely punted there, resulting in a 9000 degree spin. Ugh... Eventually come to a stop and manage to start moving again, only for the next person to come flying in and send me spinning at a rate of knots. Then suddenly "Track boundary penalty, slow for 15 seconds" or similar. By this point the leaders would be coming up to the final hairpin.
Great when you get a good one, pain in the ass in a bad lobby.
The trackdays can be quite good fun, but often it's just littered with F40 Stage 3s that folk can't keep in a straight line.
I was in the "Ferrari F1 cars at Spa" room yesterday, qualifying was great, people moving over if you were on a flying lap etc...
Race was the complete opposite! One race I pulled off to the side and awaiting the carnage, then tiptoed past everyone, then got punted by someone rejoining the track...

Found a nice track tonight all running pretty standard MX5's, the server kicked anyone interrupting someones hot lap. The cars aren't quick but if you are in the pack the racing was brilliant. It was AC-7 Racemaniacs 7 Clubsport Mazda MX5 Cup, 10min qualy and 15 lap race. No affiliation here, but it was great to race slower cars for a change.
I am usually on one of the ACS-UK servers but they were borked tonight.

Had a few good races yesterday at imola in the mx5 cup.... Today though is dreadful! People barging around for the first lap of a 30min race, then quoting when they spin off, or smashing into people when rejoining the track... I fking hate online racing....
