New PC racing sim - Assetto Corsa

Hmm odd I run with penalties on, and no assists - maybe because it was a specific challenge and not just a normal hotlap session. We'll find out when I'm back on tonight...!
I'm not sure about AC's internal checking, but RSR is very picky about labelling your settings as 'Pro'. If I manually turn all the aids off then it won't register as Pro, or if I have the temperature or track state not set at default it won't either. If you've been messing (as I often do to recreate real life conditions), it can take a few attempts to get it back to 'pro'. That's RSR of course, I'm not sure about AC.seefarr said:
I seem to remember that if you turn off penalties for clipping corners etc. it doesn't save? At least on PC.
It says "Achievements and online leaderboard times will not be recorded if penalties are disabled" I'm not sure that includes game recorded best times.Achievements, that's just the stuff I normally ignore. Like First hotlap, first time attack, first crash, first blah blah blah.

Still impossible with a controller , shocking !
Works fine for me, 1200hrs in. Will never be fastest with one but works fine while on the couch.Robster said:

I tried just doing some hot lap sessions tonight. No lap times got recorded and no option to save anything apart from a replay video.
If during the lap I crash and want to restart rather than tooling all the way round again, it loses the previous best lap time. What's even more stupid is that it keeps the previous replay data from before the restart - but not the lap times!
How annoying. Ah well project cars 2 is out soon.

(If you customise a controller as a wheel, for some reasons these settings don't work - I can give you those if you want your controller to feel like a PS2 one like it was for Gran Turismo.)
Also see the video posted before that talks about FOV: https://youtu.be/cpnlSnqWy6g
I don't know how you're viewing it eg chase car or cockpit mode but the view where you can see your hands is not the correct view - when looking forward driving a real car, if you put a TV-sized frame in front of you at the same distance away from you as your TV, you won't see your arms or much of the steering wheel.
Here's a quick view of what I see. Might be a bit low in the seat, though.
Turning feels right; it feels like the wheels are just in front of you. Whenever I've played any game with the in-car view and not the bonnet cam set back so you can see the bonnet, it always felt like I was driving from the rear seats and I never knew why.

I'll not go into it too much, but the major problem I always had with the x360 controller was the linked triggers. You can't press both at the same time, which is annoying, not so much in AC but trailing the brake is impossible along with a variety of other things you might do with a left foot when 'racing'.
You can install 3rd party drivers (http://lavendy.net/special/driver/x360c/index.html) that split the triggers, it means it's no longer recognised as a x360 controller but only as a wheel and it also effects other games, but that can then be fixed with x360ce.
It's a bit of a faff but it's worth it given I spend most my time on sims and only a little on other games (though still with the controller, Witcher 3 atm for example).

I have a Speedlink XEOX Pro which uses the XBox setup/drivers thing and I can do trail braking. I don't know if this is because it isn't a standard XBox controller?
I've just bought it. Should have it downloaded by the weekend!
I can't believe people on Facebook are moaning about the cost - these cars take a vast amount of effort to model realistically and there are several of them. From all the complaining I was ready to pay £20 to £30, but it's a fiver! WTF?!

I was totally confused, I've got the flag to automatically keep it up to date, DLC is showing in the list but "not installed"...it looked like it had downloaded but for some reason I had to tell it to update...AC really does my head in sometimes, it can be so bloody irritating in lots of little ways...I can't believe people on Facebook are moaning about the cost - these cars take a vast amount of effort to model realistically and there are several of them. Why can't it just fookin work.
Another annoying quirk, controller config loads but it's forgotten my pedals are reversed???? No idea why!
Anyway, 312/67 sounds odd when you pick up the throttle at around 5000rpm, does this sound right to you?
