Fantastic. My wife is an avid cosplayer and would love this.

I've played this twice and still can't get to keep Covenant as a settlement because being the gentleman that I am, I don't want to side with that doctor. If I play this again, I'm playing as a bd.

If you're willing to ignore the dialogue to a degree, you could justify your character going full "anti-synth" based on the meeting with Father in the Institute. I think I'd go a bit spare in that situation... "Happy family... nuclear war... partner killed, kid stolen... events...."

That plays well in my head, thanks. Do love these games, especially New Vegas but this one is very appealing. It's a lot more nuanced and greyer than Skyrim.

I've just succumbed and bought all the DLC. I have dipped in to Nuka World and Far Harbour and my initial observation is that Nuka World will take some adjusting to. All the protagonists are filthy swine and I hope to eliminate them all (if that's an option). I thought the Gauntlet was a frankly brilliant piece of gaming. As for Far Harbour, what can I say? One of the most atmospheric environments of any game I've played. Looks like my post-family commitments are taken care of the festive season....

As it happens I'v just done exactly the same after a long break from the game & receiving a One X as wedding gift I decided to get back into it.

I installed the Fusion City mod recently, which is pretty huge and a fun addition.

It introduces some pretty wild new lore (non-canon, obviously). It turns out that (NOTE: spoilers) Shaun / Father is James from Fo3, only he made a synth of himself which is what went into Vault 101 with the Lone Wanderer. After the events of Fo3, the Lone Wanderer started calling themselves Deacon, and learned the truth, and started looking for you. So Deacon is actually your grandson. And the kid you meet is your great-grandson. Which was a little awkward as I had killed his dad (Deacon).

Oh, and VaultTec accidentally started the war with a False Flag attack that went disastrously wrong.

Meanwhile, Sim Settlements just gets better and better (it is in very active development), and there are now loads of add-ons for it, and is now pretty much a game in its own right. I have some pretty vibrant settlements with 50-odd settlers now (requires an additional mod, and decent hardware).

Fallout4 parody series of shorts, in the animation style of HiSHE.

Amusing in places.

Are the loading times still comically long on the One X, or have they been improved?

Thread resurrection has just made me realise I bought the DLC pack for this and completed Automatron and Far Harbour (both awesome imo) but left Nuka World to complete at a later date.

Never got round to it, so I think I'll take a look at it tonight. Without reading through nearly 250 pages, can anyone advise anything in particular to look out for, any points of no return with factions etc?

I've had a look at some of the online articles, so I've got an idea of what's involved. Very simply, I would rather not turn into a raider in the commonwealth, so is there a specific path I need to follow?

Or is it just one of those get stuck in and blast everything, deal with the consequences later jobs?

Started another playthrough this afternoon but with mods, some of them are great! There's one which automatically loots caps from bodies for you!

Um, I think from memory you can do whatever you like in Nuka World the decision to assign commonwealth settlements to the factions is your own to do if you want to and you don't have to do it, so your settlements can stay as they are and you are not branded a raider. It's a contact guy who you talk to to do it (I think) so you can just ignore him at that point or make sure you have a recent save if you do it by mistake.

this is it - https://www.carls-fallout-4-guide.com/nuka-world/r...

So when you have done the Nuka World stuff you can stop and go back to the Commonwealth without setting up raider outposts.

Once you have exhausted Fo4, install the Sim Settlements mod - it's like a whole new game. It makes settlements actually worth building, rather than being a tacked-on afterthought.

I've probably spent as long messing around with settlements as doing the missions now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll take a look at that guide and make sure I save before I get to that stage.

I picked this up a while ago, finished the main game at a fairly pedestrian pace so was pretty levelled up. Still running around doing missions for the Railroad, am now level 160 and all the remaining perks are VATS related, as I don't use VATS my inclination to continue is pretty low.

Something I haven't read about this game - at about level 150 (and hundreds of his missions) I finally got Pressed In Gravy to STFU. He absolutely will not give me any more missions, despite thinking I am his penis pal. There's actually significant clusters of Minutemen scattered around the Commonwealth now and the respawn rate on the baddies is very low. It's as if the game is telling me to quit.
