Yuck, I don't know that I can even manage to persist with this.

The best I managed was 8:08 and even that wasn't clean. Half the time I couldn't even make it out of the starting area.

FWIW I got 2:26 on the last round at Spa, which is also risible, although the appearance of the Dream Pack interrupted any hope of proper practice.

I know I can knock huge chunks off it, if I can ever make it round in one piece.

Is there a way in AC of starting a hotlap midway around a track to try out particular corners, a la GTR2?

Or, another idea, importing someone else's ghost car?

That was the green light all the way round on RSR. But it just comes up with this. It basically doesn't save the laps. What am I doing wrong:

So for my lap, it the LED at the top left was Green the whole lap, but it doesnt seem to save. Have I got to log in somewhere or sync my steam account to RSR?

It looks like RSR is complaining that you have penalties turned off. Change your in-game difficulty level to Pro and try again.

Penalties are in one of the other screens - must be ticked.

That's a bummer mate, nice time.

Ah OK. I have it on custom so that it autoblips the throttle for me as I am using an old Microsoft sidewinder with no clutch pedal. All aids off inc ABS, as you will see/hear below! laugh

I will try what you guys said and report back later this weekend. Here is the lap anyhow;

http://youtu.be/QofuxC2OiyU

The lap is far from perfect, I think someone decent could nail another 15 seconds off that. The problem is that as you get to about 4 minutes into the lap you start taking less and less risks so you don't lose the lap. By the end I am crawling around.

I just blip on downshifts, helps smooth it out - upshifts are fine.

I think there are a few things that help on the ring with the Mac F1, most important one is first.

1) Knowing what the heck is coming next!
2) Minimising oversteer / wheelspin (I tend to upshift, just before any nasty bumps)
3) Getting the nose to bite

Oh and someone who is less hamfisted than me.

So I managed a clean lap at last. Still terrible, but I post anyway in the hope I can look back at this in future.

Not too embarrassed by my Sector 1, but then after that it turns into Driving Miss Daisy, partly through increasing unfamiliarity and partly through increasing fear of binning it.

I took a bit of pressure out of the tyres which helped somewhat, and I learnt what I could cut in the first few bends.

12th overall on Pro. Still 18s off the fastest!

Using the H shifter is losing me a bit of time I reckon. I might switch to paddles to see what difference it makes.

God this is frustrating!

And I still haven't even got close to learning the 2nd half of the track yet.

I completed a lap using paddles and checked that RSR 'Pro' level was ok with auto clutch.

Time was a 6:56:019 and was OK'ed by RSR but not as a 'Pro' time?! It also deleted my time from the 'Pro' section! frown

I guess I'm going to have to delete the new time and complete another. irked

You can delete individual records from RSR, in which case it will probably (probably!) bring back your lesser Pro time. It only shows one time per person in the tables, but maintains all your personal history.

So from the sounds of that then I will never be able to complete an RSR time as I don't have a H shifter. Shame.

That's not right - mouseover the info symbol next to the best Pro laps and you'll see that many aren't using shifters. Let me have a look and see if I can spot anything...

Edit: your 6:58.781 time shows up as Pro and no shifter.

That time is for SlipStream.

I can't see anything for Turbo_Nut anywhere.

I'm not using a shifter either and I'm fine - it's odd that you're not showing up.

Maybe you simply haven't done a lap it recognises yet for whatever reason.

How did you find that out? I can't even see my own laps. I shouldn't be allowed on a computer!
