Looking to buy one for christmas, but havent played any of them unfortunately....

WRC 4
Colin Mcrae 2005
or Richard Burns Rally

Anyone here played all of them??

I'm looking for a combination of Gran turismo realism with good graphics... what ya reckon???

I heard richard burns was the most realistic but from the screen shots looks the least pretty.... opinions?

Colin McRae is an arcade game
Richard Burns Rally is scaringly realistic, and in some ways very annoying. Still, it's the greatest sim currently available.

WRC04 isn't available on the PC.

CMR04 was a great game in that I played it online for a while, but after putting RBR on my PC and playing that I was simply stunned by the realism of the damned thing, the cars understeer, violently oversteer but most of all are controllable.

It has a load of nice touches such as animated marshals, animals jumping out of the brush. The damage model is second to none in that you can destroy your car realistically, have to think about everything. The road is immense with every bump modelled and each bump affects your car. The scenery is good...

It's not without it's flaws however. On the PC the save routine is a swine and you often have to repeat rallies as it doesn't save right. There aren't enough cars to choose from, the rallies are a little easy and force you to go a little faster... bugger . The main gripe I have is with the pace notes however, they simply aren't good enough.

You can of course change the rate at which they read out, but go past default and they are too far ahead for me, but on standard they often miss corners out - for instance booling down a straight at full pelt (which feels really fast) and he'll yell out caution right - there is NO WAY you can slow down in time. And then of course the rating they use sucks when you are used to more number related techniques - "medium", "fast", "easy" and "caution" simply are too broad for me.

Still, easily the best Sim out there. Just a shame Warthog have folded/been bought out as they have made the best Rally Sim's in the past few years IMO
