Ah remembered. There are actually 12 Episodes. "Tanks! Evolution of a legend" Its very in depth and has sole episodes devoted to tank killers etc. When I started playing WOT I found it massively interesting, so much so that I'm going to watch them again.....
Thanks. Not seen that will take a look. Martin_Hx said:
Got my first tier 10 tonight the patron thanks to the special! Had a few good games in it, just need to train my crew up, shame about some of the teams though!
Congrats, hope you have a lot of fun in it. Tier 10 meds are a blast, but yeah the Tier 10 teams can be a bit frustrating. You tend to hope that by the time someone has gotten to tier 10 they have at least some idea what they are doing, but there are a lot that just don't. I guess I'll summarise my thoughts on my two new tanks. I'll start with the Panzer 38H, one of my dream tanks.
Panzer 38H 739(f) - the so-called Micro Maus, though quite how accurate that is, I'm not entirely sure. I've seen a Micro Maus pull off incredible feats, I've had matches today where it felt like this thing could navigate the deepest circles of hell unscathed, and I've had others where it felt no more armoured than any other tier 2. The funny matchmaking weight hints at strange goings on. In the team / fullscreen map menu, the highest tiers go at the top of the screen, lowest at the bottom. The MM means that it never sees a match higher than tier 3, but on the team menu, the 38H sits above tier 3 team mates. So WG consider this thing more danagerous than a tier 3 tank, but it could not compete at tier 4 with it's crappy tier 1 gun. This thing doesn't seem to be the ridiculous seal clubbing tool that it used to be, as people switch to premium rounds as soon as they see it, and guns that the Tetrach and Cruiser tanks mount can shred it without needing premium - and with 160hp, it can't take much dinging.
Also, team mates at tiers 1-3 are significantly worse than tier 3-5 that I meet in my S35. This can make it easy to win, or near impossible, at these low tiers, you just can't trust or rely on anyone to do the sensible thing and make the right plays. Also, the XP and silver earning is crap, it actually feels like it makes no more silver than any other tier 2 non-premium. Overall, it's fun and I'm glad to have it, it's one of my favourite tanks in real life, as I'm sucker for these little micro tanks. Much like the real Maus fascinates me as it's so huge, I like the 38H and S35 as they're so small.
The Churchill III is a joy to use. I had never been excited by the Churchill previously, thinking them boring and ugly to look at (I am starting to fall for the boxy charm now), and often just easy targets. But the III, what a beast, you only have to look at it's stats on tankcompare against a regular Churchill, and it's better, which is very unusual for a premium tank. This thing is a damage-output monster. No sense trying to play a coy game in it, as it's turret armour is st, but this can pressure almost anything it can meet and shred them in a DPM battle. The XP and silver earnings are insane. I have premium currently, but after my first 5 matches I've already passed the 10,000xp mark. With the weekend ops bonuses, I've been clearing 60,000 a match. I'd earned a million in silver in about 2 hours. This will be my go-to tank for loading up on silver. The team mates are better at tier 5-6, but by no means perfect either. There's not another tier 5 heavy that can hold a candle to this thing. Funny how the Russian tech tree has two premiums that are better than their non-premium opposition at the same tier. The Churchill is a very strong at it's tier, the SU-122-44 is a monster. But there's no Russian bias, oh no, none of that!
In all, very happy with both of these tanks.

I find the SU-100Y is more deadly than the SU-122-44.
I played it earlier in a tier 7 game and got 3 kills - an IS, Tiger 1 and a Panther Prototype. I whacked the Panther in the side and he burned to death. I hit the Tiger twice and the IS was just an execution shot in the side. He was not happy, but Boxtank doesn't care. He feasts on the tears of people who moan about pay to win tanks.
You never have to fire premium ammo either as 196 pen pretty much goes through anything it is likely to meet. In fact premium ammo has less pen, but more alpha damage. The only time I'd ever switch ammo is if I know I'll be facing a Hellcat, because it can one shot them with a HE round.

Does it seem that recently people are capping more often? 3 games today that were easy wins, but we all got reduced xp and credits because some numpty (or more than one) decides to cap instead of finishing off the remaining enemies. I'm not talking about close, "we better cap just in case" type situations - thats fine and often the right move, but easy wins that are just wasted. Really annoying today that, especially when its for a double on the Chi Ri

Certainly does on the Xbox the past week or so I've been playing, so many people have capped when its been something silly like 7 of us and 1 of them left. I had one where almost everyone on my team who was left at the end had a mic and were all shouting at the guy capping to move, but he just stayed put. Is the bonus that good for capping? haven't done it in so long I can't remember.Capping can be useful, if somebody says "No cap, kill all" my usual response is "make me" I have been shot at by our own arty before for refusing to move from the hostile base. But they get even more points knocked off for that so I care not.
If I am in a slow tank or a tank that is slow due to damage and/or injured/dead crew I will always cap if there is no hiding arty or any other players on their spawn (unless they are AFK - in which case I kill them and use them as a shield), 1) because I get capture points and 2) it provides a distraction for a fight going on which can make it easier to win if one of the tanks bails out and runs back to try and re-set.
The game is so full of numpties I try and get a win any way I can, I got nearly 800xp and 30,000 credits for a loss the other day in the Marder 38T after killing 4 enemies (three outright) and damaging another before being killed. We still lost

You get another 10 hp, iirc, too.
And you don't get wet when it rains. In fairness the closed roof does help slightly on the very rare occasion someone shoots HE at you (unless it's high calibre), but as upgrades go its pretty disappointing. Still I wouldn't rush to the T28 Proto, especially if you haven't got the 105mm AT gun unlocked from the T25AT.Having the top turret will stop you being one shot by lower tier arty too.
I got the Leclerc's Medal 1st class (30K base capture points) the other week, so there's no need for me to cap any more unless it's tactically necessary.
If I'm in a slow tank and can't go chasing the last enemy tanks I'll still cap, but I will drive out if they ask me nicely.

I love seeing those with the base turret in my KV-2 as it increases the chance of a 1 shot kill
The danger of open-top vehicles is that even if the HE shell doesn't penetrate and detonate inside the turret or crew cabin (on Dicker Max for example), the hit rays the HE shells give off scan for the weakest armour and if one finds it it will have a roll to disable a crew member. This is how HE rounds hitting the front of a closed, thick armoured vehicle can kill a driver or commander - the hit ray finds the view port etc, and rolls on whether or not the crew member takes a hit. Open topped vehicles give much greater chance for HE round hit rays to find a target.
A good way of seeing this in action is to put "Eagle Eye" on a crew member, and fire HE at open topped vehicles, you'll note that even hull hits can often knock out a loader or a gunner if they sit in the turret.

Well I finally got the Ace Tanker with the AMX 50 100 French heavy tank.
Damn it's hard to do. I've had a 3rd class a few times, but only just got the 1st class a couple of weeks ago. Bizarrely I've never had a 2nd class with it.
The secret seem to be to wreck higher tier tanks.
Rather unusually for a heavy tank, the crew have near 100% camouflage skills, which is probably why I was able to get the drop on a few tanks in this game.
