It's available in the in-game store(US server at least) for 6700 gold, and always has been, I believe.

WG announced the E-25 going on sale tomorrow. However, it's part of a special, bundled in with a garage slot and a week of premium - two things I bulk buy to save gold. I'm undecided on whether or not to buy it. I've heard it's outrageously fun, but it is expensive, though I do consider the SU-122-44 to have been a good investment. Is it on sale in the general tech tree on the PC version? I'm concerned that it might not go on general sale and might be kept as a special sale item, though it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't get one.
Yeah its available through the tech tree on the PC. Goes on discount a few times a year as well. Got mine in one of the Christmas sales days last year for a pretty hefty discount (35% iirc). I can certainly recommend it, but as always I'd wait until it was discounted. December is coming, suspect the December sales will be back too.

Yeah, I found the price on the wiki but it didn't mention whether or not the tank was a permanent fixture. However, a few of the WG staff post regularly on the 360 forum and one of them has confirmed it will take it's place on the tech tree after the special is done. I won't be an early adopter, but I'm getting one anyway, payday special.

Speaking of fast, sneaky, rapid fire ninja TDs, my first match of the day in the Renault UE 57, and my second match overall in it. Ace tanker, 8 kills, 1029 damage dealt (next highest on the team scored 251 damage). Talk about a carry. This thing is great, I may actually keep one of these on as regular tank with a dedicated crew.

I had a match yesterday where I nearly pulled off a hell of a carry in my T-25. I ended up on about 20% health after engaging an killing a T-34, but then managed to rush the cap, clear the enemy base and start shooting up the rear of the enemy line that had entrenched on the ridge in the middle of the map. My team completely melted, and I started giving them my battle chat down the mic to the effect of "Fight you fking ******s, you backpack team, I'll carry all you fking bhes" etc, one guy was like "ohshi he's gonna do it" but I died with 2 enemies left over. Still, I ended up with 7 kills, damaged 4 more enemies and took a handful of medals, it was one of those heartbreak moments, but a thrilling game overall.

Update: I've just got a Mastery Class 1 in the SAu 40, or as I call it, "The Sow". Man this thing is a stbox, it's terrible. The fact I got a mastery class 1 with it stock tells you how bad this thing is.

All the tier 2 tank destroyers are pretty lethal. The Russian AT-1 is the worst one in my opinion, but I thankfully managed to get Ace tanker in that the other day and move on to the tier 3.

I'm trying to get the Ace tanker in the SAu 40 myself, but it's a struggle.

I did get the 1st class in the B1, the French tier 4 slug of death.

I think you've got to be a real masochist to play the SAu 40 once you've unlocked the next tank in the line. I doubt anyone sticks with the SAu for fun, it has no redeeming features. It's big, soft, slow and has terrible hull traverse speed, and the guns themselves aren't even that much cop. I try to find the positives in a tank and I think any tank can be a threat when played right (as I proved when I killed 3 tier 6s on my way to getting the Mastery 1st class) but the SAu does nothing that isn't done better by literally every other TD at tier 4.

The only reason I'm doing this is because we've got an operation at the moment to earn double XP 5 times in a French tank each day, so after the first double I can get another 5 doubles, with premium on top is a decent amount of XP, so I'm using it to push up the French TD line. If this event wasn't running for a fortnight, I doubt I'd be tackling these things at the moment. Thankfully from tier 5 upwards, these things do seem to have some unique selling points. I'm looking forward to continuing once I get over this speedbump.

^ That is pretty annoying when that happens.

Finally! Ring the church bells! woohoo

2nd for damage in a tier 6 game and just over 500 spotting/tracking damage too.

It's painful to play, but it's not totally hopeless. 68 kills in 43 games and a 60% win rate. There's certainly a lot worse out there.

Good work, that must have taken some grit, I found the SAu to be utterly torrid. I didn't bother with the 105mm gun though, by the time I had enough xp to unlock it I had enough to go up a tier. While I hated the SAu, I'm loving the tier 5 bathtub.

The thing I hated the most about the SAu was it's low muzzle velocity guns - even the longer 75mm gun felt a bit like a derp with it's poor dispersion and slow-travelling shells. Going up to the bathtub with the stock gun felt like shooting a laser in comparison.

I also dusted my Tiger II off last night, I need to get to work on unlocking that E-75. I'd forgotten how good the Tiger II could be when played right, but I don't know if I'll keep it once I've unlocked my E-75.

Thanks. Safe to say I won't be playing the SAu again.

Yeah, the "Bathtub of Doom" looks pretty stupid, but it's got a nasty selection of guns. Even the stock 17 pounder is the same as on the tier 7 Black Prince heavy tank. The reload is only very slightly less too. I think I went with the 105 mm gun once I had that though. 300 alpha damage at tier 5 is bad ass.

Then you have the tier 6 ARL v39 "Biscuit Barrel of Doom" to look forward too. I used the same 105 on this, but fired prem shells exclusively. Mainly because I wanted to get past this infamous TD as soon as possible, but also because as well as having more penetration, it also (unusually) has 30 more alpha damage too.

It was pretty damn deadly though. 70 games, 128 kills. 3 Top Guns. It's all about the gun though, The vehicle itself is crap. Keep your distance and wreck stuff from afar.

I played it longer than I strictly needed to, as I wanted to unlock all the guns on it for the next TD. The tier 7's stock gun is terrible. It probably works differently on Xbox.

Sadly the Biscuit Barrel of Doom sounds horrendous, and looks to be set up the same way as the PC. Whereas the Bathtub starts stock with the tier 6 17pdr, the Biscuit gets a tier 3 gun stock, wtf is up with that? The Bathtub does have an anomalous gun though, the tier 7 90mm gun that has lower DPM and considerably worse accuracy than the 17 pounder, so it's hardly an upgrade at all. The APCR quirk has been carried over to the Xbox too, 30 extra alpha over standard AP.

I may well keep a Bathtub on for mid-tier carnage, it is probably the gem of the line until the 155 Foch. The rest of the line looks a bit mediocre. I need to see how good the bathtub is as I've got a camo net but I don't have a propr crew with camo and sixth sense on this tank yet, and it seems to be pretty hard to hide. Maybe the camo crew will make a difference, but at the moment firing the 105 seems to say "I am here, shoot me" to everyone on the map.

MM has been rough tonight. Was bottom tier (and bottom line in player list) in 14 consecutive battles. Unbelievable. 7 kills in my SU85B on Ruinberg in a top tier 6 match and we lost the game. Makes you want to throw your PC out of the window. mad

Even my 'back up plan' E25 has been trolling me tonight too. Not managed to win a single game with it!

I'm sure the tier 2 Cruiser III has had its 2-pdr gun nerfed without them telling us. It was never particularly accurate to begin with but hit enough times to be able to work with it given the fast rate of fire, but even with a 180% trained crew in mine and the crosshair on the middle of the tank it is missing the target about 55% of the time now and I don't understand it.

Who is liking the new Stalingrad map? Not me.. mad Absolutely hate it. I thought Kharkov was bad but this is even worse. Nowhere for a non-turret TD or scout to go at all. We need more open plan maps or they may as well remove TDs and scouts altogether for what use they are.

It seems to me that WG are giving less and less love to TDs these days. They nerf existing maps in ways that make TDs more difficult to play and they introduce new maps that are not TD friendly. On top of that they have nerfed camo mechanics as well.

I do accept that some adjustments were needed but for me at least TDs just aren't as much fun to play anymore. I am still effective playing TDs but I just don't really enjoy them anymore.

I am having fun however in the medium and heavy tanks and the new maps of Kharkov and Stalingrad definitely favour these tank classes. I like the new maps but I definitely haven't figured them out yet and I would hate to play them in a non turreted TD.

Morning

Newish player on the 360.

Probably a question asked and answered on wot forum (& here) but.....

How much would it cost to just buy premium tanks and (ignoring the money side of it) would it be worth it tank wise?

I am now of the age that trying to control a turret and the direction of travel independently is pretty difficult, so I stick with TDs and Arty. I am finding the slow TDs a bit painful, but the fast TDs like the StuG 3G are still great fun.

They haven't, just rng playing its tricks. I was one shotting targets halfway across the map in it the other day. Then missing things in front of me the next game, same as ever.

Stalingrad...yes, not overly keen. It does relegate turretless TDs to a few fire lines, or some careful support positions. Not unbearable, but not good.

Yes I agree, the game is now heavily in favour of fast meds, and putting in an above average performance (I.e. Clearing up after everyone else has taken the pain) Gives bags of WN8!!

Like others my age and coordination doesn't favour playing the lighter tanks, and for the past 6 months or so my WN8 has been dropping rapidly while my exp has been increasing! (Mind you grinding the Emil doesn't help)..

My beloved SU26 is now a garden sprinkler, and as you say, the TDs are being nerfed too much..
Surprisingly my Löwe is still a good WN8 maker, but not too much fun to play..

Anyhow I just might uninstall xvm and try and enjoy myself.. Lol.

There are lots of premium tanks so the cost would depend on which ones you bought.

Yes you could just play premium tanks, but the highest tier premium tanks are t8 so you wouldn't be able to play clan wars which are (mainly) tier 10.

I don't think they have clan wars on the 360 yet do they?

Generally premium tanks are a bit worse than their regular equivalents, but they do make more credits and train up the crew 50% faster. They are best used in conjunction with regular tanks as crew trainers really - You swap the crew into a premium tank of the same nation & type with no penalty.
