Does anyone fancy running the Series A heist with me tonight? I should be on from 9ish.

Sorry got a bunch of kids in the flat so no GTA in the living room frown. Thought they'd be gone by now.

That was a sweet lap. My times are down to 4:02 but thats still 3 seconds off yours. I think I can see the spots you're taking better than me.

With so many straights on that track i think the Elegy will struggle to get under 4 minutes!

yeah, there is a lot at full power. But then I thought that about eat my dust and you were able to set fastest times on that. Only problem was your time was made in the corners where it was hard to overtake.
I got a 4:06 in the elegy with my limited experience.

I managed to do a 4:02 in an Elegy yesterday and it feels like there's maybe 1 more second to get out of it. But not as much as the Massacro. Anyone got any times in the Carbo yet? 4:06 probably the limit for me.

In my experience, having tried both Elegy and Massacro on this track... the elegy makes a lot of time up in the sweeping downhill corners, but suffers comprehensively on the multiple heavy braking zones into hairpins, where both its poor brakes and woeful steering lock let it down. The massacro is nearly as quick in the corners but also has brakes and turns in properly.

ION, I might now be able to make the race this weekend due to shifting some timings around. I just have to pray my stty free headset holds out or my new gaming one arrives in time

Its very close between the Elegy and the Massacro on this track.

I got 4:00.0 in the Elegy and 3:59.235 in the Massacro.

The Elegy can overtake in the corners and the Massacro gets it back in the straights. The start is going to be painful in the Elegy though as most cars from both classes are going to overtake you.

I also managed a 4:06 in the carbo.

I'll have another go later.

At the end of the racing last night i was getting faster but my fastest time was only a 4:05.
Hopefully later when i don't crash i'll post a quicker time!

I've given Project Cars another go this afternoon.

My problem is this: I was getting decent laps in the Clio Cup but it just feels like pressing buttons GTA manages to feel like you have some feedback even through a controller because the rumbling is cleverly done. Every lap in qualifying I would get nudged onto the grass by the AI cars or try to outbrake them or something and I managed not to have a valid lap through two complete qualifying sessions. Starting a session again means you have cold tyres and that means 2 laps where the car doesn't handle at all; deliberately sliding to warm up the tyres doesn't do anything, it just seems coded to keep them cold that long.

And ultimately I wasn't getting any enjoyment out of it. It's so narrow-minded and po-faced. It's probably objectively better than Gran Turismo which I got so many, many hours of enjoyment out of back in 1998 but it doesn't really add anything at all to the genre except prettier graphics and online racing. It feels like a pretty version of a throwback game.

Back to GTA then biggrin

To be fair though Jobbo, what did you think it would add? It's a driving game, surely there's not much more you can add to that genre. Think we've been spoilt by GTA to be honest as I don't find any other game very exciting anymore as I'm always comparing it.

I quite like Project Cars, once I got used to the handling and controls, and its nice to have another game to play with many of the same people, so is a welcome break, and I'm sure it'll only get better as I develops, but I don't see it having the longevity (for me at least) that GTA has provided

Absolutely right - I should have realised that before I ordered it!

Project Cars isn't a "fun" game.. its annoying and needs max concentration.. but satisfying when you get it right!

Ive had my stand and wheel for 2 days now, it totally transforms the game and it comes alive!
The force feed back makes a huge difference to how you throw the car around.
I am VERY impressed with it

Somebody mentioned off-roading recently; that made me finally finish my Alamo coast rock crawl race (not really a race) which definitely benefits from using a Sandking: http://rsg.ms/505e30c

It takes about 10-15 mins. One of the checkpoints is a deliberate pig to find/reach.
