For me the sweet spot is tiers 4 to 7. The grinds and expenses are manageable and the ships are a lot of fun to play. Also the games are more dynamic. I have got as far as the tier 8 North Carolina but am finding the post game expenses are getting silly and the grinds to the next level just aren't worth the effort. The trade off between fun and grinding has become skewed to the point that it is more grind than fun.

I think the problem with high tiers is the economy. It is simply too expensive to repair and rearm a ship post battle which is causing most people to camp well back and snipe to try to preserve their hit points. This has made high tier game play boring as well as expensive.

I am just going to stick with the fun ships and faster gameplay of tiers 4 to 7 until they do something about the high tier economy.

I agree with you, I play T5-T6 most games with the odd T7, but that can cost if not careful

I started this just before Chritmas.

Enjoyable so far with the different ships and nations having distinct play styles. Carriers seem a little detached but require some skill. Not sure what happens further up wher some don't have fighters?

Biggest 'win' to this is it seems better to grind that tanks or warplanes.

Stick with lower levels, as it gets very expensive high up if you get sunk

Jap destroyers are great fun as some offer a 10 KM range with torps

I haven't played for a while, and have yet to go Premium or buy any ships.

Think I'll treat myself and get 30 days and see how I go. Is the Mumansk worth a punt for a tenner?

Premium carries over from tanks if that's of any use to you.
Back when I used to play, if one team had a Murmansk or 2 and the other didn't it was assumed the team with the Murmansks would win, think it's the fire rate that is much faster than the ships it's up against.

Has much changed with the game in the past few months? I did enjoy it most of the time but the RNG of 200 or 2000 damage and the sheer amount of torpedoes made me a bit fed up with it.

I have deleted WOWS, its got a bit boring and MM is so bad, you either have a big win streak or big lose streak no games are close, its all or nothing.

Back to War thunder...

Same here, and I find Warthunder is the MMO game I enjoy playing the most, which makes it even more annoying that the way they dish out silver means I can't afford to fix my planes with silver so can only have one game per day...

Personally I'd like to see an option for larger more technical maps, with an increase in the number of players and longer than 20 minutes. Proper fleet battles.

One downside would be players never being found as they hide outside of detection ranges, but that could be fixed to a degree.

Oh. . . . and submarines! biggrin

I got me a Kongo last night. Just thought you all needed to know. biggrin

In other news. . . Team Battles have arrived! Anyone up for a PH team to conquer the seas.

I don't mind being in goal.

I find the gameplay extremely stale. I came from WoT which isn't great for variety, but there really isn't anything to WOWS.

I think they really need to come up with some different maps and game mechanics.

I kind of agree. I started on the Russian DDs last night. I'd forgotten how fun lower tiers could be. Had a blast running and gunning in the Storozhevoi (sp?) and Derzki. Then switching back to a Kongo & Murmansk.

It's funny how you can go through bad spells, but last night I managed to increase my average XP by a good amount!

It looks good, it's just not a very good game. I haven't played it in months.

Had a quick go of this... not bad but I assume everyone has moved on? Guess using the 'Vol #' suffix was optimistic... hehe

In the early hours you do get interesting and different MM. Two memorable ones were one of the teams having 7 or 8 DDs smile.

Another was when I queued up in my Storozhevoi (sp?). After 3 or 4 minutes MM decided to conjure up a 1 v 1 against a fellow Storozhevoi.
