I watched a vid today on the upcoming captain skills rework - it seems the secondary spec german boats are taking a big hit. This is a big disappointment to me as a full secondary build bismark is my most played ship.
I'm at a loss to understand why they would do this. The secondary spec BB's promoted a different style of gameplay. This change will promote even more 'sit at the back spamming HE' gameplay.
I recently got to 1M free XP again so I bought the Alaska.
Ranked is T8 again - so playing my Cossack in that.
How's everybody else doing ?

Been playing for 5 years now, suffered through the CV-rework from Jan 2019 and had to take a 6 month break and the Captain Skills re-work has given me the same vibes so, once again, I'll take a break and come back in Summer once the wild swinging patch to patch attempt at balancing the skills has settled down.
It's a shame really. At it's core the game is still pretty good, so I don't understand WG's "rip it all up and start again" attitude towards large portions of their own game. I mean if they genuinely believe that this level of rework (CV and Captain skills) are what is needed for the game to grow, it means that they also must believe the work they've been doing for the past 5 years is utter crap if it needs throwing away.
Ah well, back to Cyberpunk 2077, a game in which I've spent 140hrs so far, time which "could" have been spent on WoWS instead had I had any faith in WG anymore.

I've decided to wait until Flamu does his piece on the new skills as he had very good setups with the old ones and equipment as well. Bought the Thunderer (with discount and coal) and the Alaska (free exp) a few days back as they will now be no more. Problem is I struggle to get the enthusiasm to play much any more. Got a friend/ex-colleague in to it a while back and we team up, but with the IT job market how it is at the moment he's now shelf stacking in a local supermarket on shifts....
only dipped my toe in for a few games today.
Theres a link to reset all your commanders in one go.
Used my elite commander xp to re-spec my Cossack captain up to 21 points.
Not sure what I'm going to do after that. I was already losing interest in my secondary build Bismarck due to always being bottom tier - this might be the nail in the coffin.
Might focus on my recent Alaska purchase - although I'm not very succesful with it yet.

The commander skills update is another unmitigated disaster from WG. After their lootbox scam was exposed in December with the "Satan" crates, goodwill was at an all time low. The commander skill changes are just absolutely awful and everyone knows it, only the most committed Wargaming shills are saying anything otherwise.
It is so clear how WG have used the skills to nerf classes and nations they don't like (German BBs) while simultaneously propping their favourites up (CVs, Russian BBs). Cruiser survivability is terrible now.
WG have said for a while that they want to foster more aggressive gameplay and move away from max range sniping but it seems that everything they do makes aggressive play less viable and rewards passive play. I have long suspected that actual WG employees play the game very rarely on the live servers.

I'm actually quite happy with the changes now.
There is still some world class moaning going on in the official WOWS forums, but the game still seems perfectly fine at mid tiers - even the recent T8 ranked stuff was fine.
I think its only a problem for the people that exclusively play T10 and treat the game as a personal possession!

Flamu has been removed from the CC program (apparently while he was live on Twitch) - can't say it was entirely unexpected as he had refused to back down on his views on the CV and second captain skills rework, but Wargamming's reasons are different. Still he's happy about it and it will be interesting to see what he's like without the leash being on him.
Flamu was the only voice of reason amongst the WG CCs, who are otherwise a bunch of the most disgusting sycophants of any gaming community. If you watch stuff from the likes of NoZoupForYou it is ridiculous how far he will bend over to justify WG's actions and the most amusing thing is that being a CC barely confers any benefit these days.
It seems like WG are in a race to the bottom with their games now. After this disastrous captain skill rework, which I am fairly sure has been deliberately engineered to make the game more difficult and frustrating, WG seem to be following suit with the same sort of broken rework for commander skills in World of Tanks. Of course, they will sell you a solution to help make your captains better, faster.
I understand it's a so-called 'free to play' game and they have to generate money somehow, but now it feels predatory. They're not giving you the option to spend money to have a better experience, they're pushing you towards spending money to avoid having a bad experience. They have always been ignorant, arrogant and tone deaf but they have lost the plot now.
